China - U.S. Conflict On The High Seas

090308-N-0000X-003 SOUTH CHINA SEA (March 8, 2009) Two Chinese trawlers stop directly in front of the military Sealift Command ocean surveillance ship USNS Impeccable (T-AGOS-23), forcing the ship to conduct an emergency "all stop" in order to avoid collision. The incident took place in international waters in the South China Sea about 75 miles south of Hainan Island. 'Provocative' Underwear-Clad Chinese Sailors Spark Pentagon Protest -- The Danger Room

No, seriously. The Pentagon is charging that five Chinese ships shadowed and surrounded the unarmed USNS Impeccable, as it conducted ocean surveys in international waters in the South China Sea.

"The Impeccable sprayed one ship with water from fire hoses to force it away. Despite the force of the water, Chinese crew members stripped to their underwear and continued closing within 25 feet," the Associated Press reports.
