Military Family Welcomes Dog That Saved Lives In Afghanistan -- USA Today

Sgt. Christopher Duke and wife Lauren Duke greet a dog named Rufus at PetAirways in Atlanta, July 29. But Rufus is no ordinary dog. When a suicide bomber attempted to enter the barracks of Duke and other soldiers serving in Afghanistan on Feb. 11, Rufus and two other dogs attacked the bomber, forcing the explosives to detonate in the entry corridor instead of nearer to the soldiers. Five soldiers were injured, but no one was killed. They thank the dogs.
