The Navy’s New Class of Warships: Big Bucks, Little Bang -- Time

The Navy’s new Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is not only staggeringly overpriced and chronically unreliable but — even if it were to work perfectly — cannot match the combat power of similar sized foreign warships costing only a fraction as much. Let’s take a deep dive and try to figure out why.

My Comment: I would like to compare this to the Air force's F-35 program .... but it is not a fair comparison for the simple reason that the F-35 program is the ultimate in being staggeringly overpriced with questionable and still need to be proven capabilities.
