Hugo Chavez Is Fighting For His Life In A Military Hospital Ten Days After Returning From Cancer Treatment In Cuba -- Daily Mail

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez is fighting for his life in a military hospital, according to his vice president.

He only returned home ten days ago following two months of treatment for cancer in Cuba.

Last week the government said that the 58-year-old was still suffering from a respiratory infection and that the outlook was not favorable.

Nicolas Maduro, Chavez's self-appointed successor, said on television that his boss 'is battling there for his health, for his life, and we're accompanying him.'

The vice president had characterised Chavez's condition similarly on December 20, saying the president 'is fighting a great battle ... for his life, for his health.'
