U.S. Intelligence Believes Syria’s Assad Used Chemical Weapons ‘On A Small Scale’ -- Washington Post

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The Obama administration said Thursday that the Syrian government has likely used chemical weapons on a small scale against rebel forces, but it stopped short of threatening military action against President Bashar al-Assad.

In a letter to a key senator, the White House said U.S. intelligence agencies “assess with varying degrees of confidence that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons on a small scale in Syria, specifically the chemical agent sarin.”
