Is Russia Deploying Tactical Nuclear Weapons In Crimea?

Russia Deploying Tactical Nuclear Arms In Crimea -- Washington Free Beacon

Obama backing indirect talks with Moscow aimed at cutting U.S. non-strategic nukes in Europe

Russia is moving tactical nuclear weapons systems into recently-annexed Crimea while the Obama administration is backing informal talks aimed at cutting U.S. tactical nuclear deployments in Europe.

Three senior House Republican leaders wrote to President Obama two weeks ago warning that Moscow will deploy nuclear missiles and bombers armed with long-range air launched cruise missiles into occupied Ukrainian territory.

“Locating nuclear weapons on the sovereign territory of another state without its permission is a devious and cynical action,” states the letter signed by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R., Calif.) and two subcommittee chairmen.

My Comment: I am not privy to Russian nuclear deployments .... but positioning Russian nuclear tactical weapons in Crimea .... that is a stretch. Maybe one day .... but definitely not in the foreseeable future.

The Washington Free Beacon, is not a particularly reliable news source. It is well known as a "push" propaganda site for certain segments of the US Political establishment.

IMHO, the "importance" of this article is more in showing a certain US Establishments focus and Push.

It must be tough these days in the US to be a NeoCon, as they seem to have broken up into various "clubs", trying to "push" all those different countries as being The Important US Enemy.

Tu-22 nuclear-capable bombers could be seen by satellite if they are parked outside. Or they might be caught taxiing by a passing satellite.

Iskander-M's operational range is 400-500km (250-310 miles)

Placing the missiles in Crimea would put western Turkey (or more of it) and Bulgaria within range.

Do the the launch carrier vehicles look similar or other missile carriers?

Unless they move these at night, park them in warehouses, there should be satellite pictures of them also.

You can hide troop movements for a while but if they stay stationed in Crimea for a month or more you would think Western intelligence would know for sure.
