Cost of War Against ISIS So Far: $424 Million -- Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON – First came the name. Now comes the price tag.

Operation Inherent Resolve, the newly named war against Islamic State forces in the Middle East, has cost the U.S. government more than $424 million in 10 weeks.

The Pentagon is spending about $7.6 million a day to pay for daily airstrikes in Iraq and Syria, surveillance flights over the Middle East, a growing team of military advisers flowing into the region, and all the support needed to keep operations on track.

On Tuesday, Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said the total cost so far is heading towards a half billion dollars.
