The commander of foreign operations for Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards visited Russia last week and met President Vladimir Putin, Fars news agency reported on Wednesday, a sign of closer ties as their regional alliance gains momentum.

General Qassem Soleimani, head of the Quds Force, last visited in July to aid in planning the Russian military intervention in Syria. Russia and Iran support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad against rebels in that country's civil war.

Backed by Russian air strikes, hundreds of Iranian troops have arrived in Syria since late September to take part in a pro-government ground offensive, their biggest deployment in the country to date.

WNU Editor: I guess reports of his demise and/or injury were exaggerated .... Iran Is Denying Reports That Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Commander Of Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Has Been Injured In Syria. But the fact that visited Moscow tells me that a new phase in the Syrian war is about to begin .... my guess is a new and major offensive .... but where I do not know. What is also interesting is that this news was only made public after US Sec. of State John Kerry left Moscow last night.

It's scary that western sources were saying he was badly injured or dead. Either their Intel is bad/wrong or their propaganda machine needs to be reworked. Who do you believe????
