CBC: Justin Trudeau joins Canadian superheroes for Marvel Comics cover

"We acknowledge that this is basically Trudeau fan fiction," says writer Chip Zdarsky

Make way, Liberal cabinet: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will have another all-Canadian crew in his corner as he suits up for his latest feature role — comic book character.

Trudeau will grace the variant cover of issue No. 5 of Marvel's "Civil War II: Choosing Sides," due out Aug. 31.

Trudeau is depicted smiling, sitting relaxed in the boxing ring sporting a Maple Leaf-emblazoned tank, black shorts and red boxing gloves. Standing behind him are Puck, Sasquatch and Aurora, who are members of Canadian superhero squad Alpha Flight. In the left corner, Iron Man is seen with his arms crossed.

Compared to what's out there, and what came before, and his 180 towards ( on some programs and policies) making Canada, Canada again, he is a " Superhero".

Like the New Pope, ( still has that New Pope smell), telling Priest's not to diddle little boys, that LBGT people are people too, and Jeasus was a radical leftie,

The mainstream line up of Political/ Social "leaders" is in general, so foul and wretched, ( Jason Kenney, Sarah Palin, Der Furour,), it really doesn't take much to make somebody stand out, big time.

When Trudeau shut up, listened, and then rebalanced the Electoral Reform Referendom Commitee to address both the Dippers and (well some) of the Con's complaints, well, he impressed me.

Hey, anyone who can throw an elbow into the chest of a political opponent (a female none the less) and get away with it is a super hero to me!

Never happened.

The thick layer of lies and hostility suggest's,...........

Steven Harper, is that you? You kind just disappeared completely.

He's spending way to much money, like his old man did and Mulroney after him, it will be our undoing in not sustainable, amateur.

He's hiding behind Jason Kenney.

As for Little T.

The hype is off-putting because there is really so little substance behind it. His father, like him or not (and he'll always be my favourite PM), was a leader who believed in and had a vision for Canada.

Justin has always struck me as Margaret's kid.

And I never was a fan of Mick Jagger....

Compared to his Dad, he's young,

And he doesn't have his Dad's Liberal Party either.

So far, colour me impressed, mostly because all I really expected out of him was "Not Harper".

Jay. It is interesting that you said Electoral Reform Referendum Committee .... the people I know in the Liberal Party have zero interest to push approval on changes to how we elect our politicians in a referendum.

In the past 10 years the Liberals that I know (former PM, VP of the Liberal Party, and what I call the Laurentian Liberals) are of the mindset that they will never want to be out of power again .... or definitely not out for ten years. The priority behind this reform committee will be to push a report that (1) will make it impossible for the Conservatives or their allies to form a majority government in an election, and (2) to have it approved by the other parties on the committee and by a parliamentary vote .... Conservative Party opinion be damned.

The script has already been written .... the question is .... can they push this through for the next election.

P.S. You are right about the Liberal party (especially the old guys) and their views on Justin Trudeau. They do not like or respect him .... but they like power and control of the public purse more.

P.P.S. Pierre Trudeau was involved in politics at a far more younger age than Justin Trudeau.

Jay Farquharson said...

Yup, but Pierre was well experienced in Politics and Government when first elected Prime Minister at age 59.

Justin's a mere pup in contrast, both age and experience wise.

War News Updates Editor said...

I have met both of them a few times over the years (Pierre Trudeau far more because of business and China) .... and yup ... P.E.T.'s experience wise is hard to match. And I am not going to get into the character issues :)

It will be a terrible thing if this electoral reform gets pushed thru, with the ranked system, we could end up with unending Liberal Governance, that's no way to run a country, they're policies will become stale and the corruption within the Liberal party has always been bad and as they can't be kicked out it will just intensify. This will be Democracy in name only, that cant be allowed. Parliament has to be renewed every 8 or 10 years.

The Comittee is 5 Libs, 3 Con's, 2 Dippers,, 1 Block, 1 Green, each representing a political party with a different plan.

The Comittie's "job" is to spend 7 months reviewing the options, then writing a report for the House on the potential proposals.

After that, there is no "process".

Right now, there is no proposal, no policy, no procedures, just a bunch of fearmongering and guessing as to what the Commitee might write, and what the House will decide to do going forward.
