Marcus Weisgerber, Defense One: Air Force Officers Give New Details for F-35 in War With China

For the first time, key officers lay out how they’d deploy the stealth F-35 and F-22 in an all-out war with China.

U.S. Air Force officials for the first time said publicly how they’re planning to use the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter in a war with China.

The bottom line: a lot needs to change in the way the Air Force uses its warplanes in battle.

“If you put a fourth-[generation F-15 or F-16 fighter] in there, they’re gonna die,” said Maj. Gen. Jeff Harrigian, who is finishing up a tour at the Pentagon where he has been building the plans for integrating the F-35 throughout the Air Force. He and Col. Max Marosko, the deputy director for air and cyberspace operations at Pacific Air Forces in Hawaii, detail how the F-35 would be unleashed in a new report published Thursday by the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.

“In our minds, what this comes down to is the ability to kill and survive,” Harrigian said.

Update: US Air Force Speculates on How F-35 Would Be Used in Combat (Sputnik)

WNU Editor: A lot of the details on how the U.S. Air Force will wage war against China that are outlined in this post are just common sense .... but I still cannot help but feel that they are too optimistic in their assessment on what they will be capable of doing.  On a side note .... this plan will not work against Russia .... this goes back again to the realisation that any war with Russia will probably escalate to nuclear weapons within a day or two.

Update: This is interesting .... Special Air Force Analysis: 5th Gen Fighters (Scout Warrior).

The general rule of thumb, is that NATO can't match Russia for Conventional Ground Forces in Russia's near abroad, and in the Air, it's a tie.

Both sides's doctrine is that Theatre Commander will have a "tactical nuclear package", released for their use, on their authority, to prevent a localized "route".

Both sides doctrine is that any nuclear weapons use, requires a full on MAD response.

The longest time period on both sides, in wargames, where a NATO vs. russia/Soviet Union was modeled, and remained a conventional weapons conflict, is 22 hours.

The shortest, 4 hours.

Sadly Jay .... your 4 to 22 hour window is accurate .... at least that is what I read in the Russian journals and when I hear their "experts".

Sadly, 20 years of MIC propaganda about theoretically "useable" nukes has created "mush for brains" syndrome in the West.

On another site, today, I had some moron claim that Russia had 5000 nukes aimed at the Baltic's alone, while the US had only 500 nukes left.

Those of us of an age.

It's funny how between 1991, and now, other than The Nork's and Pakistan, it's like nuclear weapons ceased to exist?

I know Jay. And our concerns hold little if any sway in the eyes of the under 30 crowd.
