Why cry foul?

Killing is killing.

What matters is your justification for warring.

Exactly, its not like theyre using white phosphorous rounds

Fazman, the U.S. used white phosphorous as a weapon in Iraq. It's a horrible weapon, but if I was going to be on foot entering that city, I probably wouldn't mind it being softened up a bit. A lot of cities and villages have been fire bombed during wars. Cities in japan and Dresden in Germany are what first spring to mind. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4440664.stm

Well we've certainly learned one thing over the past couple weeks: changing one's name is not an effective countermeasure against the Krasnopol, or any other ordnance.

More blubbering

Steven,

What is wrong with white phosphorous?

Is it unmanly merely because you say it is unmanly?

Is being killed or maimed by HE less frightening or less worthy of your attention?

Aizino, any weapon being used against me is horrible. Any weapon being used by me or to protect me is beautiful. The effects of all weapons are horrible. War is horrible. Those who start unjustified war are horrible. I consider most weapons pretty much on par with eachother.

Good

Whilst all weapons are indeed horrible with one intent somr are worse than others. Being eaten alive by white phosphorous is worse than h.e taking your arm off.
It was banned in vietnam but the u.s simply reffered to it as something else and continued using it.
I dont beleive it was used in iraq.

Bomber harris would have been hung as a war criminal had the germans won, its called victors justice.

May be,

The Nuremburg Trials only tried the Nazi Warcriminals for the war crimes, we didn't do.

Unrestricted Submarine warfare, War Crime, but Donetz walked because we did it too.

It was used in both battles of Fallujah, and several others.

BTW, WNU Editor,

You managed, ( unless you live streamed it) to miss The Hip's last concert ever.

Jay. My best friend in Montreal taped it for me. He told me that it was awesome.

The United States has had this for decades. Russia is boldly storming into the 1990s

fazman said...

Yep in violation of the 1980 accord against certain conventional weapons.
Unless its used to create a smoke screen it should be outlawed.

From what I read in Wiki, It was mostly used to create a smoke screen for lanes of advance. Although I think I also read they dropped a few on Al Qaeda torturers.

Bob Huntley said...

They were probably bridesmaids but torturers sounds better if justification is required.

Jay Farquharson said...

Yup, it was awesome!

Jay Farquharson said...

By Convention, it's not supposed to be used around Civillians, and they did burn up a lot of men, women and children, alive.

Not bad for a "smoke screen", and of course, lot's of hearts and minds won.

This is an interesting development. A month ago I would have thought the Russians wouldn't bite, but since the Backfires showed up in Iran... Who knows?
