Former Donald Trump Adviser Meetings And Ties With Russian Officials Being Investigated

Yahoo News: U.S. intel officials probe ties between Trump adviser and Kremlin

U.S. intelligence officials are seeking to determine whether an American businessman identified by Donald Trump as one of his foreign policy advisers has opened up private communications with senior Russian officials — including talks about the possible lifting of economic sanctions if the Republican nominee becomes president, according to multiple sources who have been briefed on the issue.

The activities of Trump adviser Carter Page, who has extensive business interests in Russia, have been discussed with senior members of Congress during recent briefings about suspected efforts by Moscow to influence the presidential election, the sources said. After one of those briefings, Senate minority leader Harry Reid wrote FBI Director James Comey, citing reports of meetings between a Trump adviser (a reference to Page) and “high ranking sanctioned individuals” in Moscow over the summer as evidence of “significant and disturbing ties” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin that needed to be investigated by the bureau.

WNU Editor: If I was to list all the American businessmen/businesswomen who have close ties with American politicians (through Party affiliations, giving advice, and providing donations) and who have met and conducted extensive business dealings with Russian and Chinese government officials over the years (of which I am sure that some of these officials either reported back to their intelligence agencies and/or who work for them) .... it will be Who's Who of America. This is one of those classic examples where politics and business do not mix .... especially this type of politics and business. On a personal note .... I have always said to Russian emigres who I know who live in Canada and who want to get involved in Canadian politics that full disclosure and cutting all business ties is a must .... which apparently in this case with Donald Trump was not done. Not surprising .... the Trump camp is backing off from Carter Page who should have known better .... Trump camp backs away from adviser suspected of Kremlin ties (The Hill).

Retired Genera Michael Flynn might (and should) get some attention as well.

Honouring I.O.U.s and exhibiting the banking impartiality which kept the Swiss in control of banking for so many years as a scandal threatening a candidate's campaign. One more reason that the dysfunction that is the U.S.A. political scene will not be credible in the foreseeable future.

I've never really had a problem with these "ties" between members of Mr .Trump's team and Russia. There are a vast number of issues where we need Russian assistance on if we are going to be successful and it's clear trust is lacking on both sides.

In order to procure the neccessary Russian assistance, constructive dialoge will need to be established. In order to do this, a leader will seek out team members who the other side has experience with and would be inclined to trust in order to open the necessary dialogue. As such, choosing team members such as Carter Page, Paul Manafort, and Mike Flynn who have these relations would be good choices for team members.

Essentially Mr. Trump is trying to achieve constructive relations relations with a very powerful country who can hurt us very badly and whose assistance we desperately need in a number of areas. The choice of team members reflects this very necessary goal.

In contrast, team Clinton has chosen to recklessly blame the Russians for the DNC hack without any evidence while our relations with Russia are already extraordinarily strained. This is the equivalent of pouring fuel on a raging forest fire. Such people are pathologically insane. This alone absent anything else would be reason alone to vote Trump.

If Mr. Page is forced to step aside, hopefully the necessary cotacts have been established between Mr. Page's contacts and other members of Mr. Trump's team. Also, Mr. Page may be still able to contribute below the radar.
