The Guardian: US funds fed corruption in Afghanistan, eroding security fighting Taliban – report

Two main causes of Afghanistan’s staggering levels of corruption are the sheer volume of aid and lack of oversight, new report by a US Congress watchdog says

From the very beginning of its intervention in Afghanistan, the US sabotaged its own efforts by feeding corruption in the country’s government and the security forces meant to fight the Taliban, according to a new report by a US Congress watchdog.

“Corruption undermined the US mission in Afghanistan by fueling grievances against the Afghan government and channeling material support to the insurgency,” says the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (Sigar) in the report released on Wednesday.

That was the Plan. At the First Loya Jurga, the US put the same batch of Warlords in charge, that destroyed Afghanistan in the Afghan Civil War, and lead to the rise of the Taliban.

This time, with a thin veneer of "democracy".

The only reason the Taliban won in the civil war was that Pakistan backed them.

So are the Taliban more pure and more competent than the others? Do they fart unicorn farts?

The Talib didn't win the Civil War. They only managed to get control of 92% of Afghanistan, and the "purity" they had when they came charging up the Korrengal, was long gone in deals with the Warlords to get to that point.

Of course, it's not the Talib any more, now it's the Taliban who are winning.

It's been 15 years now for the US, $2.1 trillion paper dollars mortgaged, and 60 more years to go to defeat, or victory.

The Talib are the Taliban. The latter grew from the former.

The Talib have not been pure since they allied with the ISI. That is from the start.

The Taliban were on the verge of getting the other 8%.

Massoud was assassinated by Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda was providing muscle for the final battles.

Al Qaeda and the Taliban were linked at the hip.
