This Pilot Almost Lost His Head In An Air Show (Video)



ABC News Online: Dramatic footage inside cockpit shows pilot's near-decapitation in air show

Footage shot from inside a plane cockpit has captured the moment a pilot comes within millimetres of having his head struck by the wing of a plane as it attempts to take off at an air show in the United States.

Thom Richard had stopped his racing plane on the runway during his heat in the National Championships Air Races in Reno, Nevada, because the aircraft was "not running well enough for flight".

Richard is seen lifting the canopy of his plane up as another approaches at speed from behind, narrowly missing his head and appearing to strike his raised arm.

No confirmation yet but all evidence points at either A Russian or SAA pilot disregarding the green flag as a deliberate attack on the disabled pilot...
