U.S.-Led Coalition Air Strikes Kill 62 Syrian Soldiers

Washington Post: U.S. admits carrying out airstrike that Russia says killed 62 Syrian soldiers

A U.S. airstrike, targeting what were thought to be Islamic State militants in eastern Syria, instead hit Syrian military positions Saturday, killing what Russia and the Syrian government said were 62 soldiers and injuring about 100.

The U.S. Central Command acknowledged the strike, saying it was “halted immediately” when U.S. forces were informed by Russia “that it was possible the personnel and vehicles targeted were part of the Syrian military.” The command statement said Russia had been notified beforehand as a “professional courtesy” that U.S. aircraft would be in the area, but U.S. officials said no reply had been received.

A U.S. Defense official said the strike “appears to be an intelligence failure.”

It was only a matter of time before the "accidental" covert support by the US for ISIS and al Quida became "accidental" overt support.

When's the USAF going to change the markings on their aircraft to the ISAF?

al Qaeda's airforce in Libya is now ISIS' airforce in Syria. hmmmmmm???, we're beginning to see a pattern here....

Centcom say's they were watching the site for "weeks".

Al Monitor say's that ISIS has managed to break through into the city and has already slaughtered thousands of Kurds and Christians.

Fazman,

It's hard to believe that the fighting in Deir Ezzor has been going on for as long as it has and the U.S. decided to intervene today. They also have the capacity to inform the SAA via the Russians of what they are doing. Those channels are open.

This comes on the heels of:

1) a so-called ceasefire that the Pentagon is highly sceptical of

2) A Turkish invasion of Syria that the U.S. has joined

3) increasing attacks by the "rebels" on other fronts

4) Israeli airstrikes on the SAA in the Golan.

Coincidences? Respectfully, Hard to believe.

The warrior was hit 20+ years ago. A lot has changed since then in terms of battlefield identification.

Who cares, ISIS, Syrian Army, Nusra they are all the same. its a giant mess and even a known Putin fanboy like you knows that Putin is not insane enough to take on the US military, especially the Air Force. The US Air Froce would sweep them in the hour and knock out their air field within two. Putin talks a lot but he is not insane, this was probably an accident, misidentification and not deliberate, so relax, the Bolsheviks didn't lose a thing.
