CIA Prepping for Possible Cyber Strike Against Russia

NBC: CIA Prepping for Possible Cyber Strike Against Russia

The Obama administration is contemplating an unprecedented cyber covert action against Russia in retaliation for alleged Russian interference in the American presidential election, U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News.

Current and former officials with direct knowledge of the situation say the CIA has been asked to deliver options to the White House for a wide-ranging "clandestine" cyber operation designed to harass and "embarrass" the Kremlin leadership.

The sources did not elaborate on the exact measures the CIA was considering, but said the agency had already begun opening cyber doors, selecting targets and making other preparations for an operation. Former intelligence officers told NBC News that the agency had gathered reams of documents that could expose unsavory tactics by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

WNU Editor: Russian media is reporting extensively on this NBC news leak, and Kremlin officials are being quoted that Russia will respond militarily if the U.S. launches such an attack. This story was leaked to NBC, which tells me that someone within the administration is not happy with this decision. Some in Russian media are speculating that this is just a ploy to help Hillary Clinton .... 'Obama cyber saber-rattling against Russia possible ploy to boost Clinton camp' (RT). It is also  being reported that Donald Trump is sceptical of the evidence that Russia is behind the recent DNC cyber-hack .... Trump refusal to accept government assessments on Russian hacks dismays former officials (Washington Post). What's my take .... if the U.S. wants to start a war with Russia, they better show us their evidence instead of just telling us to trust them.

There will be no war. If cyber was a bullet, maybe, but it's not. If it were the US would have fired back at them months ago. I can't image much will come of this, if they have the heads up, I'm sure Russia is securing it's networks. The danger is if each country turns from information gathering to being destructive. Taking down electrical grids, air control, or tampering with nuclear plants, could cause really damage and casualties. This kinda thing could start a war.

Seems for many months, President Putin has been looking for ways to perturb and harass the US and allies. As mentioned, we can no longer allow the blatant assaults and haranguing. He must be countered I a reasonable way. And the chips will fall where they may. The other option is to let the bully continue to get his way.

If there no evidence, the evidence will be constructed.

If you have multiple enemies, who can hide their tracks, then when you get hit, you can do nothing or you can put them on a punch list and take them out one by one or in groups.

I pity YC.

He has no guts.

None at all.

There are communes in the U.S. that have been around for decades. All that is needed for a communist U.S. is for those communes to grow by proselytizing.

Has YC set up a common in Italy. Hell No!

That would require work. Instead he mopes and bitches about the evil U.S.

Stuxnet, Duku, worms and virii etc slipped onto Russian servers, only to have them escape into the wild again.
