Is Donald Trump Correct That Military Operations Against The Islamic State Should Be Secret?

CNN: Is Trump right that ISIS fight should be secret?

Washington (CNN)US military officials detailed their reasons for publicizing aspects of the fight against ISIS Tuesday, the subject of criticism on the campaign trail.

Republican nominee Donald Trump has slammed the Pentagon for hurting the effort with loose talk.

"Why do they have to say we're going to be attacking Mosul within the next four to six weeks, which is what they're saying? How stupid is our country?" Trump said during Sunday night's presidential debate, referring to the impending battle to take back a key Iraqi city from the terror group.

It was the latest instance of criticism he has made of the Obama administration for being too forthcoming with military planning.

WNU Editor: When Russia began its military operations in Syria over a year ago .... I will always remember on how shocked the Pentagon was that they only learned about it a few hours earlier when a Russian General showed up at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad and told them that Russia was now intervening directly in Syria .... Russian Three-Star General Requests U.S. To Leave Syrian Air Space (September 30, 2015). This makes sense to me .... military operations must always be kept secret .... and when they begin to announce it and to then have it covered. That is why the Normandy invasion during World War II was kept secret until it happened even though everyone knew it was going to happen .... surprise has always been a part of any military strategy .... and the rason why is simple .... you must always keep the enemy off-balance. But in today's 24 hour social media live reporting universe .... and in today's Pentagon, political, and media mindset .... secrecy is clearly not the policy anymore.
