The FBI And The U.S. Justice Department Are In Deep Disagreement On How The Clinton Email Investigation Should Be Handled

NBC: Justice officials warned FBI that Comey’s decision to update Congress was not consistent with department policy

Senior Justice Department officials warned the FBI that Director James B. Comey’s decision to notify Congress about renewing the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server was not consistent with long-standing practices of the department, according to officials familiar with the discussions.

Comey told Justice officials that he intended to inform lawmakers of newly discovered emails. These officials told him the department’s position “that we don’t comment on an ongoing investigation. And we don’t take steps that will be viewed as influencing an election,” said one Justice official who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the high-level conversations.

“Director Comey understood our position. He heard it from Justice leadership,” said the official. “It was conveyed to the FBI, and Comey made an independent decision to alert the Hill. He is operating independently of the Justice Department. And he knows it.”

WNU Editor: After yesterday's FBI disclosure that a new investigation has been launched on Hillary Clinton's emails, it was only a matter of time before the Justice Department had to respond. Not surprising .... 24 hours later they have. But if the following story is true, it appears that Attorney General Loretta Lynch had wanted the FBI Director to spike his announcement .... James Comey Broke With Loretta Lynch And Justice Department Of Tradition (New Yorker). Wow .... the FBI Director made the decision to ignore the head of the Justice Department. This story is just starting, and I now expect a full court press from the Democrats to discredit the FBI Director. What's my take .... I have always been one for open government .... but I also respect tradition and the rule of law. Hmmmm .... this case definitely conflicts with my two principles, but considering that this is a U.S. Presidential election .... and considering how politicised the Hillary Clinton case has become .... the FBI Director took the lesser of two evils and made the decision to make a 3 paragraph announcement on what is happening to Congress. I guess from his viewpoint .... he had no choice. I also now expect calls for his resignation in the coming days .... or firing after the election should the Clinton campaign win the Presidency.

Update: If this story is true, it will be impossible for this new FBI investigation to be completed before the election .... FBI Found "Tens Of Thousands Of Emails" Belonging To Huma Abedin On Weiner's Laptop (Zero Hedge).

Another name to commit to memory is Preet Bharara. The US Atty for Southern NY State. Some reports are saying he was prepared to move forward regardless of AG Loretts Lynch's approval. He's a Democrat but is an equal opportunity political punisher. He's in Comey's corner.

I suspect the new Wikileaks releases that are coming this week are pretty reveling and the FBI wanted to get ahead of it so they don't look so bad, I also think that maybe Obama is throwing Clinton under the bus because of the pending leaks.I am really loving this shit, best election ever.
