U.S. Millennials Are Ignorant Of Communism

Market Watch: Poll: Millennials desperately need to bone up on the history of communism

The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, citing survey results released on Monday, blames widespread ignorance for the relatively positive views millennials have toward socialism and communism.

Of the 2,300 Americans polled by YouGov, 80% of baby boomers and 91% of the elderly agree with the statement that “communism was and still is a problem” in the world today. Millennials? Only 55%.

Furthermore, almost half of Americans between the ages of 16 and 20 said they would vote for a socialist, while 21% would go so far as to back a communist.

Capitalism, on the other hand, is viewed favorably by 64% of those over the age of 65, compared with only 42% of millennials.

WNU Editor: The YouGov poll is here. What's my take ... being one who lived in the former Soviet Union .... and whose family knows first hand on what life was like under Communism .... sighhhh .... a depressing poll result.

Maybe the poll says more about what alot of people are experiencing under capitalisim in the U.S. than it does about their ignorance of communism. Maybe some folks see that there were at least some positive aspects worth investigating.

Don't worry though Editor, you will not see communism as you knew it in the U.S. or anywhere else. Good or bad, that ship has sailed. One day, your capitalism will sail away with too...if the bottom isn't blown out of it first.

This is very probably.

I have talked with many mature people from East Europe (without say to them that I am communist) and most of them are nostalgic of that past, "There's nothing left" (industry, job, healthcare, security, for the most) line. All of them have sons trapped in modern jobs market.

In today Italy, some of the youngster define themselves as "fascist" not only because of their ignorance, but also because of a trend line.

If the problem is in the number of the victims of our ideology, we are sorry, but I need to remember that if we want to separate victims by systems or religions, we are not in the podium.

Far more criminal than us in history are Christians, Muslims and Capitalists.

Don't get mad WNU Editor, world and history is not black or white.

'Ignorant' because they think of it favorably... That's not what ignorance means, Market Watch.
