A 62 Year Old US Special Forces Veteran On The Front Lines In the War Against The Islamic State

FOX News: At 62, US special forces veteran battles against ISIS on lonely desert front

NORTHERN IRAQ – On the Western side of Mosul, far from the media’s attention, lies a forgotten front crucial to choking off ISIS' lifeline to Syria.

Fox News recently made the eight hour trip west from Mosul to the front outside the devastated city of Sinjar and found a small outpost where a handful of men hold off near-daily attacks from ISIS fighters.

One soldier manning the post was David Shumock, a 62-year-old Floridian and former U.S. Air Foreces pararescueman. The American fights side-by-side with the Kurdish Peshmerga, and serves as medic and trainer to his comrades, as well.

WNU Editor: I found these remarks by David Shumock interesting .... we see 500 vehicles moving every day, resupplying Mosul and Tal Afar. And there’s nothing we can do.

Hat Tip to Anon for this link.

"President Barrack Obama mimics the University of North Florida’s mascot osprey and does “the swoop” during a campaign rally Thursday for Hillary Clinton in Jacksonville, Fla."

Our very own President "Bumble" (see the picture from the link above) can do "the swoop" like a bird of prey, but he can't do as much with the USAF in a few years or at all whereas Putin did quite a bit in 1 year.

500 trucks a day. Well it might be 200 a day, but that is not the point. The point is well taken. It is that Tel Afar and Mosul are being copiously supplied and Obama does not know what air superiority means or how to use it.

Of course we should not believe David Shumock , because he is probably one of those 'keyboard warrior' that jabberjay is always talking about.

Hey under our enlightened elite betters who have fully debated and figured out to science the art of war behold our new way of war.

http://www.defense.gov/News/Transcripts/Transcript-View/Article/630393/department-of-defense-press-briefing-by-col-warren-via-dvids-from-baghdad-iraq

"In Al-Bukamal, we destroyed 116 tanker trucks, which we believe will reduce ISIL's ability to transport its stolen oil products.

This is our first strike against tanker trucks, and to minimize risks to civilians, we conducted a leaflet drop prior to the strike. We did a show of force, by -- we had aircraft essentially buzz the trucks at low altitude."

This is why we have not won a war post WW2 and why we never will if we don't run these elitist sheltered idiots from our positions of leadership. All they have given US is losses bloody draws and forever war.

I am no military expert. I am simply a rather elderly guy. But I note that often comments here badmouth Obama, et al, implying, I guess, that what is needed is Trump to give orders and his shrewd advice to our generals on how our forces should act in our battles. Now Trump does claim to know a great deal about such matters, though I have seen no record of how he acquired this sort of know how, and if we are to judge him on the basis of his many failed businesses, perhaps he is being credited where he ought not to be. The military leaders who support him consist of a lot of officers who were dismissed for various things--some 50% of those supporting him--and I note that many in intel and military support Hillary.
In sum: if commenters support Trump, then say so. And why not tell us why.

fred lapides,

Did you see what C-low wrote?

"We had aircraft essentially buzz the trucks at low altitude."

1) We gave ISIS a crack at our planes and pilots. That is we gave ISIS soldiers time to shoulder SA-7 missiles, aim and shoot when they came back around.

Or if the jihadis were quick enough, the barn door is wide open, SHOOT ME in THEN ASS TACTICS imposed by our 'flexible' CINC would allow the jihadis a shot straight up the tail pipe of of a $25 to $50 million dollar plain and the loss of a pilot.

At the loss of the plane & pilot I am sure the tards across the spectrum would bemoan the cost of the war in $$$ and lives.

2) This leaflet dropping exercise and subsequent truck bombing came after Putin entered the war and shot up a bunch of tanker trucks and micro refineries.

Putin et al might have inflated the kill count, but the point is that he was actually fighting and 'putting the hurt on the enemy'.

Obama's subsequent ramping up the American air campaign was essentially an "me too" effort". ARE YOU NOT EMBARRASSED ALL TO HELL ABOUT THAT?

During this time we were regaled to the elitist logic that we had to fight with both hands tied behind our back, our feet hobbled and our head hooded.

That is if we bombed the micro-refineries, there would be environmental damage and therefore we do not bomb them.

When ISIS subsequently retreated & set oil fields alight, 'BUMBLE', the COWARD in Chief, did not send Red Adair or fire trucks.

If the oil fires were that bad, why did not Obama have contract let out to some contractors to immediately fight & put out the fires as the IA advanced?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Adair

"Environmental concerns have limited the number of strikes President Barack Obama has authorized against ISIS oil targets"

http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2016/07/09/satellites-show-hundreds-of-makeshift-islamic-state-oil-refineries-in-iraq/

Obama did not hit ISIS in a short amount of time with a lot of force, an impulse. He gradually increased the pressure, which allowed the frog to jump out and adapt.

So ISIS has adapted and the environmental damage is worse. 'Point to Obama SET'.

"The micro-refineries — sometimes called “teapots” — consist of little more than a ditch or pit for storing crude and a portable metal furnace used to distill raw petroleum into fuel. "

http://www.latimes.com/world/middleeast/la-fg-terror-finance-20140924-story.html

Thousands of teapots are in use around Islamic State strongholds in Syria, but have only recently popped up around the heavily damaged Iraqi oil fields, according to Stratfor's senior analyst Omar Lamrani.

"It's not the ideal way to do it, so [the Islamic State's] revenue is going down. But it still works,"

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/report-isis-using-portable-oil-refineries-to-sidestep-airstrikes/article/2595911

Given the time involved and the tool Google. It is hard to construct the time line showing that Obama started hitting the oil infrastructure of ISIS only after Putin came into the war and started hitting it big time.

Having Obama as president is like eating a shit sandwich every day.

Trump would make a much better CINC than Obama. Obama had to be shamed into supporting the Kurds in Kobane. Check the news reports of the day.

As it was ISIS came off with a loss instead of a win and it affected the amount of border they had with Turkey and thus recruits and resources.

Shumock is there and he is putting it on the line. Other people are phoning it in from the West.
