Ukrainian authorities are laying the groundwork for President Petro Poroshenko to visit Washington early next year, hoping to shore up U.S. support against Russia and allay concerns about what a Donald Trump presidency means for Kiev.

Ukraine has relied on Western support and economic aid since street protests in 2014 which toppled a Kremlin-backed president and were followed by a war with pro-Russian separatists and Russia's annexation of the Crimea peninsula from Ukraine.

WNU Editor: This relationship is going to get testy when Donald Trump's administartion starts to deterrmine what they should do with Ukraine. Umm, no he won't. Like I have said before your Putin fanboy schtick is tired and old. Ukraine is the victim here not Russia. Trump is not all of sudden going to tell Putin go for it. I agree with you on most things but not this one. Nothing is going to change there, we are still going support Ukraine, except now Ukraine may get better aid than what Obama has been giving. In short, it is Russian then needs to leave the Donbas, Crimea, South Ossetia and Abkhazia (the Russians stole the last three and failed to get the first one).
