Is Hillary Clinton Planning To Run For The Mayor's Office In New York City?

Daily Mail: Could Hillary Clinton run for New York mayor and beat unpopular ultra-liberal incumbent?

* The website Newsmax is floating the idea that Hillary Clinton is 'talking about' running for New York City mayor
* Clinton is reportedly feeling pressure from donors and Democratic Party leaders who are less-than-pleased with current Mayor Bill de Blasio
* While it's highly unlikely that Clinton would give politics another go so soon, she has surprised people in the past by running for senate in 2000
* Her decision to become President Obama's secretary of state in 2008, was also eyebrow-raising, after the two politicians' bitter primary battle earlier that year

Does Hillary Clinton have one more political race to run?

Newsmax is reporting that Democratic donors and leaders would like to see last year's Democratic presidential nominee jump in the race for New York City mayor, as incumbent Bill de Blasio is up for re-election later this year.

The right-of-center website uses unnamed sources, saying 'She's talking about it,' with others noting, 'If she ran, she'd win.'

Nobody from Clintonworld would go on the record with the website, or to Dailymail.com, when the question was asked.

WNU Editor: I do not know if this story is true. But I do know that with the Clintons .... when there is smoke there is fire.

In my organization in training, people thought it was better to take over from a failure than a stellar performer. They if you performed just an average job you would look good in comparison.

I am not sure this would work out for Hillary.

Bad policies followed by more bad policies is not a good combination.

Still a 4 to 8 year ride might be enough to launch Chelsea's political career as a New York federal representative from Long Island or Westchester.

Still Mrs. Clinton would have to off de Blasio (his political career).

de Blasio would be angry and some of retainers would be as well, but is it a small camp?

Cuomo is not going to step aside for de Blasio. Could Clinton secure deBlasio AG, Secretary of State, or some other statewide office. If not she would be shuffling him off.

Aizino,
Whether or not she runs, whether or not she wins if she does, or even how the exploration to run goes, will speak clearly to how much juice the Clinton brand still has in political circles. The fact she is running ostensibly for local office (even though it is NYC) speaks volumes. I think you're right in that it is an effort to get Chelsea started in politics. The greatest enemy for the Clintons/Chelsea is time. If Trump has a good first year they/she are done.
A side observation: If they try in the NYC area it will be with Trump in his own home base as public/political enemy for the first time. That will be interesting. I think the Democrats are or should be worried about NYC as a political bastion.

A NYC mayor will be sworn-in on January 1, 2018. We have 359 days to go.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayor_of_New_York_City

"According to current law, the mayor is limited to two consecutive four-year terms in office. It was changed from two to three terms on October 23, 2008, when the New York City Council voted 29–22 in favor of passing the term limit extension into law.[2] However, in 2010, a referendum reverting the limit to two terms passed overwhelmingly."

Okay, I will buy what you said except for the last part about the political bastion. I do not know about that. I do not have enough information or wisdom in that regard.

Please, please, please run Mrs. Clinton. It would be so entertaining.

"OK. So, in conclusion, “conservatives who hate Hillary Clinton, and some people who hate Bill de Blasio, and some reporters who really love the idea of having Hillary Clinton to kick around for several more years, are fervently imagining Hillary Clinton running for mayor of New York, something that will not happen.” I wouldn’t call this “news,” but it is revealing. And, hey, the wire will always be there to cover stories like “Trump rewards attorney general he bribed to get her to stop looking into his massive fraud with a job,” freeing your political reporters to write hate-fanfic."
