President Trump: 'U.S. Isn't So innocent'

New York Times: Trump, Asked Again About Putin, Suggests U.S. Isn’t ‘So Innocent’

President Trump, asked by an interviewer on Saturday why he respected President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia even though he is “a killer,” seemed to equate Mr. Putin’s actions with those of the United States.

“You got a lot of killers,” he told the interviewer, Bill O’Reilly of Fox News. “What, you think our country’s so innocent?”

Mr. Trump has long expressed his admiration for the Russian leader’s strength. But his willingness to seemingly draw a moral equivalence to actions by Mr. Putin, who has brutally suppressed dissent by eliminating political enemies, led to an eruption on social media.

Many asked how conservatives would have reacted had President Barack Obama, or other Democrats, compared American actions to Mr. Putin’s.

WNU Editor: When I first heard his remarks I said to myself that the media is going to have a meltdown. And yes .... they are having their meltdown.

He acknowledges the US is not "innocent." Every American knows this. Unfortunately what always followed from this was hysterical anti-Americanism that would seem to suggest America should be treated as a boil upon humanity and lanced (destroyed). Then along comes someone eho acknoeledges America's guilt yet doesn't embrace the hysterical anti-American view that suggests America is a boil that needs to be lanced (destroyed).

Because of this stance is largely why he got elected. Furthermore he appears to have shunned the ridiculous crazy talk non sense crazy talk of America being "indispensable" or "exceptional." As anyone who has read my posts elsewhere on this site will know, it is my considered opinion such misguided thinking by anyone will have only bad endings. Fortunately the overwhelming majority of Americans reject such ridiculousnesss.

Now as for V Putin, good relations with him and the country he leads will be most helpful for anyone. Since the media is long since pathologically insane, they "meltdown."

Meanwhile a 500 billion dollar oil deal between Excon Mobil and Russia is being held up because some idiots thought it'd be a good idea to impose sanctions on Russia because of dear old Ukraine. Of course Western European countries lift their sanctions first and their governments are changing, one or more of their nations will get this deal and Americans will be left out. As such, the goal should be lift sanctions against Russia as soon as possible. Stupidity and ideology are correlated and don't end well. This deal would benefit America and Russia. Russia won't lose out. Someone else would step in.

American leaders need to act to ensure this does not happen. After all, given the considerable distrust that has been built up between Russian and American leaders over many decades, it took CONSIDERABLE effort to negotiate this agreement. It'd be prudent to ensure such efforts aren't wasted.

Every country has Killers, and they use them when it suits it's purpose,Trump was being honest. The melt down the media is having is dishonest, they know what countries do to further their agenda. The American media didn't melt down to this degree when Obama's drone attacks, and military operations were killing, or the funding of so called moderate rebels in Syria. We in the west, do what we have to and can be extremely brutal when we need to, but we like to portray ourselves as the guys in the white hats, we do it for democracy and human rights and nation building. We need to be honest with ourselves, we are bastards as well, so cut off the food and water and make the places we invade free fire zones and stop the lovey dovey BS, embrace your inner Bomber Harris.

It does not bother me that Trump said what he said. He was being blunt. We can have an honest discussion.

When the Left does it, it does it to tear down. When the libtards @ Berkeley do it, you know at the end of the day they want to tear down America and rebuild it in their anarchist/infantile/socialist/communist image. I know I've been to Berkeley.

If Trump does it, it will be MAGA.

Jay,

Moron? The answer to the question is Trump a libtard is yes in the sense that he understands America is guilty of great crimes. All Americans unddrstand this. Unfortunately what generally follows from this realization is hysterical anti-Americanism. In the sense that he embraces or tolerates such hysterical anti-Americanism the answer appears to be no.

Americans do admire Canadians and look up to them and desire to be accepted by them. This is entirely correct. With that said I think understand why you called me a moron. The spelling and sentence structure left much to be desired. I apologize and will try to do better in the future.
