Does The 'Deep State' Exist?

CNN: Spicer doesn't reject concept of 'Deep State'

Washington (CNN)Asked whether a "deep state" of entrenched government employees exists, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Friday that some federal employees were working to advance the previous administration's agenda.

"I think that there's no question when you have eight years of one party in office, there are people who stay in government -- and continue to espouse the agenda of the previous administration," Spicer said.
What's a 'Deep State'

"So I don't think it should come as any surprise there are people that burrowed into government during eight years of the last administration and may have believed in that agenda and may continue to seek it," he went on. "I don't think that should come as a surprise."

WNU editor: It was the Intercept reporter Glenn Greenwald .... the journalist who posted NSA leaker Edward Snowden's NSA files .... who first coined the term "Deep State". All new governments when they come to power are always faced with a bureaucracy that may not be sympathetic to them. But with time these opponents are usually either fired or transferred elsewhere. I expect the same to happen with the Trump administration.

Nope.

The concept of The Deep State is rooted in Operation Gladio in Italy and Turkey.

He wouldn't be the only President (and certainly not the last) to assume office with a plethora of conflict of interests.

Hillary Clinton herself has some baggage - http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/293404-watchdogs-warn-of-serious-conflicts-of-interest-for-clinton-foundation

Both - Trump and Hillary - would sell our organs to the highest bidder if they could. ..it's just that with Trump you'd high five and tell jokes while he kills you and with Hillary there's just this robotic stare and med-induced laughter. ..People prefer to be killed by people they see at least some human emotion in. .Hillary was just too robotic (and equally corrupt, incompetent and war mongering)..

The Deep State is what continually FUCKED over China.

Now it is not called the Deep State in reference to China, but when you read the description of what has happened to China over the centuries and the definition of the Depp State that is what it is.

After swing what happened to the Ming and other dynasties, historians have posited that the decay and fall of Chinese dynasties can be attributed to the bureaucracy, their ways and their mores.

They look how the early Ming emperor was so dynamic and how each generation got weaker. Sometimes you can attribute this to bad blood (genetics) or the morality of the ruling elite (the get smug & indolent). The theory goes that over the long haul the bureaucracy conditions the dynasty to do things a certain way.

The example they gave is that the 1st Ming Emperor was a general he fought. By the time of his son or grandson, the Emperor never fought. They had some other person lead the armies. The Confucian scholar bureaucrats made various argument to the Emperor and over the long haul they decided more of what was going to happen than the dynasty.

I wish I read it my source of this theory so I could give a better synopsis and link to the source but it has been a long while.

This bureaucracy disease is not limited to the Chinese.

The wretch Marx was 1/2 right in what he wrote. He described things well and then his second half of his book was pure shit.

As we are finding out with Trump all Democrats and many, many Republicans do not like him because he is an outsider. The people voted and the Beltway class does not care.

... Maybe there is a reason for series like Into the Badlands. Hollywood is unconsciously feeling the vibes.

Jay is the number one contributor to the far leftist agenda on here, a pillar of tears and kindergarten logic. Facts don't care about your feelings and as always...LMAO (common response when backed into a corner by posts that hurt his feelings)

now now...a person has a right to post comments with an implied position and to badmouth someone simply because you have a contrary position is juvenile, to be fairly polite. Deal with what is SAID and not a positon or person you dislike

THERE IS NO DEEP STATE. THERE IS A PRESIDENT WITH A NOTION OF CONSPIRACY

Good God Fred but you are daft and proof that age does not necessarily make a person wise.

The Deep State includes NGOs for example. Planned Parenthood, Catholic Social Services and Luther Social Services are part of the Deep State.

Take Catholic and Lutheran Social services. They are organizations. Sociologists like organizations to organism. Not much of stretch really when they use the same Latin root word. Sociologists also tell us that organizations do not like to die whether or not the reason the came into existence is still valid.

It must have something to do with people's paychecks, people's sense of purpose, etc.

Catholic & Lutheran Social Services doe not get money for refugees resettlement if their are no refugees coming into the U.S. They are optimizing U.S. foreign policy (or attempting to) to optimize their own particular budgets, but in general they are suboptimizing the situation for the U.S.

The entrench bureaucracies for many of the same general reasons as the social service agencies do not want to shrink and do not want to die. The want to continue forever ad infinitum with ever larger budgets. Looking for a job or retraining just is not in their plans.

If your organization declares victory, then your reason to exist goes away. You have to find a new job, which for many people is a scary and daunting prospect.

Or if you declare that you have found near perfection in regulation, then all you have to do is maintain. Your agency is more like a commodity is in the open market. Low margins and little to no growth.

The fiefdom does not expand.

A

deep breaths might help...everything is deep state that you either dislike or do not understand

all organizations want to grow, and continue to exist...thus all are deep state?
badmouthing age, or at least my age, does not make you right and me wrong

The VOLAGs were just an example as was Planned Parenthood.

The MSM could be considered part of the Deep State.

I did mention bureaucracies as well.
