Former Director Of National Intelligence: There Was No Wiretap Of Trump Tower. There Is No Evidence Of Trump - Russian Colussion

NBC: Former DNI James Clapper: ‘I Can Deny’ Wiretap of Trump Tower

WASHINGTON — Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on Sunday denied any suggestion that Trump Tower communications were wiretapped before the election.

For the part of the national security apparatus that he oversaw, "there was no such wiretap activity mounted against the president, the president-elect at the time, or as a candidate, or against his campaign," Clapper told Chuck Todd in an exclusive interview on Sunday's "Meet The Press."

When Todd asked him whether he could confirm or deny if a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court Act) order for this existed, Clapper declared, "I can deny it."

Asked again whether there was a FISA Court order to monitor Trump Tower, Clapper said, "Not to my knowledge."

Clapper said that if any wiretap like that occurred, he would "certainly hope" that he would be aware of it.

"I can't speak for other authorized entities in the government or a state or local entity," he added.

WNU Editor: The press is currently focusing on the story that the former Director of Intelligence James Clapper is denying President Trump's claim that the U.S. "bugged" him and his campaign. But in the same interview he is very clear that there is NO evidence of collusion between the Trump team and Russian officials .... but in the Q&A on the Meet The Press panel that followed this interview .... there was no mention of the second point. In fact .... it was just the same talking points that there must be an investigation into President Trump relations with the Russians .... even though there is no evidence of anything illegal .

Update: This is a start .... White House requests Congress investigate whether Obama administration abused power (CNN). .... but will Congress proceed? And if so, what will be its guidelines.

Update #2: What does this former U.S. Attorney General knows? .... Former Bush attorney general: Trump right that there was surveillance (The Hill).

Thats balls.

Send out a already proven lair to lie about another illegal surveillance against America by our own gov.

Sessions next 4yrs should be fully involved as prosecuting investigating the illegal are at min improper use of the federal gov as a political weapons tool.

Would Clapper be lying if he stated that there were no wiretaps against Trump or Trump Tower if the wiretap target was the one specific server contained within Trump Tower that was responsible for the communications to the Russian Alfa Bank?
Just like Sessions could deny communication with the Russian ambassador in the capacity of a campaign member or surrogate since the meeting between the two took place as business for the Armed Services Committee.

Clapper is a toad.

Since I have been aware of him these last 8 or 10 years, my opinion of him wavered but once.

That must have been a one off on his part, a head fake, or my mistake.

Trump has the power to clarify it and everything else about the Russia story right now by declassifying whatever surveillance records exist of contacts between people in his orbit and Russia. If he and his associates did nothing wrong, he has every incentive to do so as soon as possible.

The White House press office did not immediately respond to requests to comment on whether Trump will use his declassification power regarding his tweeted claims. It’s previously ignored repeated questions about whether he will use it regarding the general issue of contacts between Russia and his campaign.

"Trump has the power to clarify it and everything else ..."

So do the leakers and the MSM.

I think the Uranium One story is more important.

It seems like the tape recorded got stuck again. Fred is repeting the same song over and over again.

Obama is gone and Killary is getting older each day. It will be fun to see who the Democrats will have as their next candidate. I hope they are crazy enough to nominate Hillary again.

Clapper is a political hack who has gone over to the dark side, to his everlasting regret, His career is over, the most he can expect is a bullet now, and justly so.

Republican Congress to keep it that way.

But, now Congress is supposed to find out what surveillance was done, which inevitably will require people still in authority or recently out of authority to testify under oath. And that is the absolute last thing he can afford to have happen, because they'll explain why what they did was legal and what the legal underpinnings were.

Drip, drip, drip.
