Last Months U.S. Navy SEAL Yemen Raid Provided Al Qaeda Names And Contacts (Update)

CNN: US tries to ID hundreds of al Qaeda contacts thanks to Yemen raid

Washington (CNN)Several US officials told CNN Thursday that the US is now taking action to locate and monitor hundreds of people or "contacts" found as part the intelligence retrieved during the deadly raid last month in Yemen targeting al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Some of these people are believed to be in the West, but not in the United States.
The government is taking action to find and monitor these AQAP-linked individuals because of the threat they may pose to Europe, the officials added.

The fact that officials said they are actively pursuing leads uncovered from the raid indicates that the intelligence was indeed actionable despite some media reports to the contrary.

Perhaps they just bomb wherever they see an 8 year old girl.

bob,

The death of an 8 year girl is a huge concern. Every time this happens whether it is one of ours or one of theirs it is gut wrenching and tragic and whether it is one of theirs or one of ours it will almost inevitably lead to blowback.

Now with that said America is in a fight for it's survival against a very determined and capable adversary that far exceeds the capabilities to harm Americans of either Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan ever could have dreamed of doing.

Furthermore if someone on the American side simply bombed where they saw an 8 year old girl we'd be talking about war crimes tribunals. The government loves to prosecute soldiers. It's great fun for them and American servicemen don't have the advocates of say "black lives matter" to represent them.

Anon,

It may be to early to say the military is on the "winning track." Now if these reports are true and the raid yielded this type of intelligence this is amazing. To have carried out a raid so deep in enemy territory and to have only lost one aircraft and one Navy Seal against an enemy of this caliber is beyond belief. Much greater loss of US lives and equipment would have been expected.

The American military is really great at winning battles and killing innocents.

If that is true, you should be scared.

You reason like one.
