Russia-Gate News Updates -- March 29, 2017

Reuters: Russia probe should focus on Trump financial ties: senator

A U.S. Senate investigation into Russia's meddling during the U.S. election should include a thorough review of any financial ties between Russia and President Donald Trump and his associates, Democratic senator Ron Wyden said Wednesday.

In a formal written request made to the leaders of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee, Wyden said financial relationships between Trump, a real estate developer with properties around the world, and Russia are deserving of scrutiny because of resistance by Trump and some in his orbit have not been forthcoming about their finances.

"Efforts to understand these relationships and to separate fact from speculation have been hampered by the opacity of the finances of President Trump and his associates," Wyden, who also sits on the intelligence panel, wrote to Republican Richard Burr and Democrat Mark Warner.

Jay. The problem with these news stories .... and I have said it more than once .... is that for the past 8 or 9 months every source that the media has used has remained anonymous. The only one who has been exposed has been Christopher Steele .... and sorry .... I am not been impressed with his dossier ....

For this story to continue, multiple people will need to come forward, identify themselves, present evidence, and state their case publicly. But no one has .... even after all of this time. I have lost count on how many stories I have read where analysts/pundits/officials/reporters/anonymous sources/etc. .... they are all saying the same thing .... that Russia swung the election to favour President Trump .... but they never present any evidence .... just their opinion on what they think happened .... backed by (of course) anonymous sources. Even President Obama expressed his scepticism in December during an interview with the Daily Show’s Trevor Noah that the Russians tampered with the American voting process .... and IMHO the former Presdient is right

I said in January that this story is going to be around for a long time. I have not changed my opinion on that. Critics of President Trump want it to be true .... and they will feed the energy necessary to keep it going. So in the months to come I expect the use of more anonymous sources .... more investigations that are nothing more but looking for evidence .... and old stories repeated like the USA Today post on the Soho project .... an old story that even I commented upon last month (see the end of my commentary)

From the break in, to Nixon's Impeachment, took 3 1/2 years of drip, drip, drip.

Nunes has "shut down" the House Commitee to stop people from coming forward.

Deep Throat is still Anonamous,

But by year 2 of Watergate, people had figured out who in Government could be trusted, and who was involved in Watergate and the Cover Up, and people started to come forward.

Drip, drip, drip.

True Jay. But one of the reasons why I posted the Bob Woodward and Pat Buchanan post is that for at least those two who were up and personal with Watergate .... and who have a very good idea on how these things evolve and go .... they think all roads (and the consequences of it) will lead to President Obama. Deep Throat was very effective because he was very specific on what happened and where the evidence was .... names, evidence, and details were published ... and opponents of Nixon had something definite to follow. In this case .... and the above Reuters article on Trump's confirms it for me .... they are on a fishing exercise .... they have nothing. The above FOX article is important because it is the first post that I have read where a former Obama official .... Evelyn Farkas (and who is not anonymous) .... has come forward with her version on what has happened .... and it is eye opening. If we do a mental exercise and say if all of this had happened under Bush when President Obama was elected .... and someone like Evelyn Farkas had came forward and said the same thing .... the press would be screaming Watergate 100X. MSNBC and Morning Joe are not friends of President Trump .... but even they realise this is a big story .... and as I have said since Day One .... it is. The big question is .... how far do the Republicans want to go with that. Is their hatred for Obama greater than their hatred for Trump .... I wonder sometimes.
