WikiLeaks Has Published The CIA's Hacking Toolkit

Washington Post: WikiLeaks says it has obtained trove of CIA hacking tools

The anti-secrecy organization WikiLeaks said Tuesday that it has obtained a vast portion of the CIA’s computer hacking arsenal, and began posting the files online in a breach that may expose some of the U.S. intelligence community’s most closely guarded cyber weapons.

WikiLeaks touted its trove as exceeding in scale and significance the massive collection of National Security Agency documents exposed by former U.S. intelligence contractor Edward Snowden.

A statement from WikiLeaks indicated that it planned to post nearly 9,000 files containing code developed in secret by the CIA to steal data from targets overseas and turn ordinary devices including cellphones, computers and even television sets into surveillance tools.

WNU Editor: It looks like the CIA has an Edward Snowden problem. The Wikileaks link is here .... Vault 7: CIA Hacking Tools Revealed (Wikileaks).

Update: This is interesting .... Wikileaks: CIA 'Stole' Russian Malware, Uses It to ‘Misdirect Attribution’ of Cyber Attacks (Russia Insider). Key sentence ....

.... With UMBRAGE and related projects the CIA cannot only increase its total number of attack types but also misdirect attribution by leaving behind the "fingerprints" of the groups that the attack techniques were stolen from.

What this means is .... perhaps the DNC was hacked by the CIA and it was blamed on the Russians.

Update #2: I am reading some of this stuff. It is a gut feeling .... but I cannot help but feel that there is someone in the intel community that wants to assist President Trump in his battles against the intelligence establishment .... and is giving him the ammo in these leaks to make his case about Russian hacking and the role that the Obama administration may have played. It is going to take weeks to go through this stuff .... but what I have already read only reinforces my belief  that all smart devices can be compromised.

to suggest that the CIA hacked for the GOP is a serious charge, made with no evidence whatsoever and so is a very bad and biased comment

The Democrat establishment has made all sorts of charges with no evidence whatsoever.

It is their normal modus operandi.
