Bloomberg: McFarland to Exit White House as McMaster Consolidates Power

* Former Fox News commentator will become envoy to Singapore
* Trump’s second national security advisor making his mark

K. T. McFarland has been asked to step down as deputy National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump after less than three months and will become U.S. ambassador to Singapore, according to a person familiar with White House personnel moves.

The departure of the 65-year-old former Fox News commentator comes as Trump’s second National Security Advisor, Lt General H.R. McMaster, puts his own stamp on the National Security Council after taking over in February following the firing of Michael Flynn.

It follows a reorganization of the NSC in the past week to remove Stephen Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist and senior counselor, from the principals committee.

U.S. ambassador to Singapore...basically a retirement position where you can't screw up.

McFarland was a secretary in Reagan's, Bush 41 and Bush's 43's Communications Departments.

Somehow she became a Military and National Security commentator on Faux News.

This, some how qualified her for Agent Oranges NSC.

BTW, Anonamous, with China rising, Singapore's in play.

I agree Jay. Singapore is in play. It is an incredible place (I have visited there about 10 times over the years). It is small, but a lot of major players in Asia are using the country as a back-channel. McFarland may be out of Washington, but she is going to be very busy in Asia, and with no one looking over her shoulder when she is there.
