Kremlin Spokesman: 'Support For Assad Not Condiitional'

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov. © Sergey Guneev / Sputnik

WNU Editor: It is the AP who is reporting this story .... AP Interview: Kremlin Support For Assad Not Unconditional (AP). The tone of these  remarks are opposite from what Russian President Putin is trying to convey .... that it is "unacceptable to make groundless" accusations on who was responsible for this weekend's chemical attack in Syria .... Russia's Putin attacks "groundless" accusations on Syria gas incident (Reuters). More here .... Putin rebukes Netanyahu over ‘groundless’ accusations on suspected chemical incident in Syria (RT).

What is my take. I just finished talking with a friend in Russia who follows these things very closely. He believes that the Kremlin is frustrated on what has happened .... and while their instinct is to blame the rebels, they also have no illusions on how brutal Syrian President Assad can be. But what they do know is that this atrocity now opens the door for a greater U.S. involvement in Syria .... and that is something they definitely do not want.

Peskov and Medved are seen as Pro Us puppets by many Russians.

Russia/USSR wants a seaport on the Mediterranean coast.

Iran is a bigger fish to fry.

If we can stop Iran's strategic initiative of a Shia crescent that would be more important. They are in the terrorism business and have been for 4 decades.

I do not know how we can guarantee a Russian port in the East Med, but we could not oppose it.

Maybe it is a pipe dream because a secular Arab leader is about the best the Russians or Americans can get.

LMFAO,

A Naval Base is a facility where Naval Vessels can be refit, replentished and based. Russia already has one at Tartus and has since 1971.

A Seaport is a facility where overland shipments of goods can be loaded onto marine vessels and shipped over water.

For Russia to have a Mediterranian Seaport, would require at the minimum, the Russian conquest of Hungary and the Balkans, or the Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.

More proof that 'Merkin's don't do dictionaries or geography.

LMFAO,

And if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's ass on the ground every time it hops.

Assad will last longer than Hair Furour.

If ISIS or the MB takes over or had taken over, would they have granted Russia the use of Tartus?

That is not a given.
