Task & Puspose: New Footage Shows Aftermath Of The MOAB Strike In Afghanistan
New footage came out on Thursday showing the aftermath of the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) weapon that the US dropped on ISIS fighters in Afghanistan on April 13.
The video was taken by local Afghan police, who can be seen walking around the stone rubble and dead trees.
Security forces blocked access to the area for more than a week after the blast, and Afghan officials estimated that it killed about 100 ISIS militants.
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, however, said that counting the “dead bodies is probably not a good use of our troops’ time.”

You're right. Unless there is stuff ( a lot of stuff!) buried I am not very impressed.
The damage looks appropriate, stone stuctures collapsed (objects in epicentre tend to survive) and trees charred ( trees survive fury of hurricanes as nothing for blast wave to grab hold of (.
I dont know what damage is expected. , the place is barren rock and sand to begin with.
If it killed 90 Tolliban and the generals can pour attention to the next CF, then
good.
The Tolliban have their hands full with factions, ISIS, ISI puppeteers and the U.S.
The next thing to do is to assassinate Tolliban leaders in the middle of the night in the Tribal areas (Operation Darkheart).

I don't know. It looks to me (granted we're getting video from who knows where) like they just went after structures at the entrance to this cave. I get the it's close to bedrock and is barren country anyway, but if this is what they are trying to do with a MOAB then perhaps it's just a wasted pr stunt. An old timey "Arc Light" strike would have done the same thing. Maybe I'm just getting old, but this fighting wars with the pr department sure seems not work that well these days.
I like using Arclight.

Perhaps, l have the gut feeling the entire thing was for kims benefit regardless of DOD denials.
