Is The North Korean Army Falling Apart?

Bryan Harris & Robin Harding, Financial Times: North Korea’s Nuclear Push Masks Army Coming Apart at Seams

When North Korea deployed hundreds of artillery units, submarines and soldiers to take part in its largest live-fire drill, it was intended as a chilling display of the reclusive regime’s military might.

The country boasts the world’s fourth-largest standing army, with more than 1m troops as well as 7m reserves, and last week’s military exercise came as US President Donald Trump ramped up the pressure on Pyongyang over its nuclear and missile programmes.

But officials and experts say the apparently formidable force is beset by an array of problems, from fuel shortages to ageing equipment, that would choke its capabilities in the event of prolonged conflict with the US and its allies.

You can have 5 million norks willing to fight, it makes no difference this is a logistical and supply nightmare for any offensive army let alone this 3rd world mish mash.
No fuel, no ammo , no drinking water, no field communications all over 30 days max. Those opening salvos had better count.

They will not last, and would lose and probably lose within a few weeks. Their air force would be destroyed in days. What makes them dangerous is their artillery and special forces. When I was stationed at Kunsan AB, we trained heavily to defend against their SF forces.

We will not know how this will play out until it happens, a Gulf War outcome highly doubtful but so is all out Nuclear war, but if it happens it will be a mess and nobody is going to have much fun. With 8.5 Million troops and up to 20,000 pieces of Artillery it could be a long 30 days. We will just have to wait and see.

Agreed, lm simply suggesting that weve seen these dire casualty predictions before which does not trivialize the thousands that would still die.
