Washington Post: President Trump Asked Intelligence Chiefs To Push Back Against FBI Collusion Probe

Washington Post: Trump asked intelligence chiefs to push back against FBI collusion probe after Comey revealed its existence

President Trump asked two of the nation’s top intelligence officials in March to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government, according to current and former officials.

Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election.

Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the requests, which they both deemed to be inappropriate, according to two current and two former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private communications with the president.

Trump sought the assistance of Coats and Rogers after FBI Director James B. Comey told the House Intelligence Committee on March 20 that the FBI was investigating “the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts.”

WNU Editor: More anonymous leaks .... and repeating the same story that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians in last years Presidential campaign but with a twist .... apparently President Trump asked two top intelligence officials to (and I am quoting the Washington Post) "publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 campaign". I love how the Washington post writes this story .... the Washington post implies that there is evidence of collusion without presenting any evidence that there is. I also love how the media is now using the term "former officials" instead of saying "former Obama officials", thereby not tainting their sources as biased. This news story also tells me that the media narrative has now change .... the focus is on building a case that President Trump obstructed justice .... so I will not be surprised if in the coming days more anonymous leaks will be coming out to validate this claim. But the big story is not these anonymous leaks .... the big story is that I am now seeing for the first time some Democrats distancing themselves away from this entire affair .... with even Senator Feinstein admitting that there is no evidence of collusion .... Feinstein: No Evidence Of Russian Collusion With Trump Campaign, But There Are Rumors (RCP). My prediction .... the only person who I see who has a problem is Michael Flynn and his failure to disclose his earnings from foreign states .... but aside from him .... I do not see any evidence of a crime being committed .... just the usual talk, rumours, and anonymous sources. For Russia-Gate to move forward .... anonymous sources must become public, and the crimes that are being rumoured must be made specific and backed by evidence. When that will happen (or not) is something that I do not know. But then again .... if you can get the President on an obstruction of justice charge .... even when no crime was committed that deserved to be obstructed .... and having the President himself say repeatedly and publicly that no collusion or crime was ever committed .... is that where this investigation will eventually lead? I guess we will find out in the coming weeks.

Why not? Their report said there was no collusion. They should have stood by it.

What do your high level contacts in Russia and China say?

Fred,
Real journalists predicted an overwhelming Hillary Clinton landslide in last years Presidential election.
Those who were not journalists and who were saying other-wised were labelled as (fill in the blank).

Anon,

The Russians are no longer treating this as a laughing manner. It is impacting U.S.-Russian cooperation on every level. The Chinese have not been ensnared in this scandal .... so they are lying low and are avoiding any comment on it.
