Grenfell Fire Disaster -- News Updates June 17, 2017

Daily Mail: Police say 58 people are now 'assumed to be dead' in the Grenfell Tower inferno as fire investigators use dogs to continue their grim hunt for bodies

* LFB's canine units were sent into the building yesterday along with the MET's urban search and rescue dogs
* The dog units and officers are helping to look for some 58 people who remain missing after the inferno
* Kitted out in high-vis harnesses and boots, the dogs painstakingly helped cover charred floors of the building
* Blaze, thought to have been started by a faulty fridge, engulfed the building, which housed some 600 people

Service dogs have joined the grim search for bodies in Grenfell Tower as police confirmed at least 58 people are missing presumed dead.

Speaking to media outside the west London building today, Metropolitan Police commander Stuart Cundy said: 'The fire was truly horrific. For me this is just a human tragedy.'

He said that the force has confirmed 30 people are dead and has established that another 28 are missing. He added that he has to 'assume' these people had died.

The commander stressed that this information was based only on the number of people they believe were in the tower when it caught fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning and the actual loss may be greater.

WNU Editor: The political impact from this tragedy appears to be starting now .... 'She's adrift': Tories concerned over Theresa May's Grenfell response (The Guardian). What's my take .... tragedies like this one do have a tendency to hurt the government in power .... and there is a lot in this tragedy, including Prime Minister May's response to it .... that is resulting in political blow-back.

It used green material and that made the fire worse.

More people sacrificed on the altar of the greenies.

Yup. council housing, where people give up their rights to ever more government.

What is shocking is that councils have proposed moving in complete strangers in with people. Hey, but it is a leftists type of thing.

Whatever fire retardant used or not used would fall afoul of California's cancer laws.

Take brominated flame retardants for example.

You put something like brominated flame retardant in a material to break up the chemical reaction of a fire and the greens will have a cow. I was just looking this up the other day.
