New York Times: President Trump Will Not Invoke Executive Privilege To Block Former FBI Director Comey's Testimony Next Week

New York Times: Trump Appears Unlikely to Hinder Comey’s Testimony About Russia Inquiry

WASHINGTON — President Trump does not plan to invoke executive privilege to try to prevent James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, from providing potentially damaging testimony to Congress on statements the president made about an investigation into his former national security adviser, two senior administration officials said Friday.

Mr. Trump could still move to block the testimony next week, given his history of changing his mind at the last minute about major decisions. But legal experts have said that Mr. Trump has a weak case to invoke executive privilege because he has publicly addressed his conversations with Mr. Comey, and any such move could carry serious political risks.

One of the administration officials said Friday evening that Mr. Trump wanted Mr. Comey to testify because the president had nothing to hide and wanted Mr. Comey’s statements to be publicly aired. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not want to be identified discussing a decision that had not been announced.

Update: Trump not planning to invoke executive privilege for Comey testimony: NY Times (Reuters)

WNU Editor: There is precedent for this .... Nixon did it during Watergate, and President Obama invoked executive privilege on the Fast and Furious case (a case that involved the U.S. supplying weapons to Mexican cartels). Will President Trump do the same thing? Considering how vocal he has been that he has nothing to hide .... I can only assume no .... but he is also known to change his mind. As to what do I expect from former former FBI Director Comey when he gives his testimony next weeek. The committee will be wanting to know if President Trump told him to stop his investigations of his officials .... but he has already answered that question in the past where he said (under oath) that no such thing happened. Will he change his testimony to fit the narrative that many in the media are hoping he will do .... I doubt it. What I do expect him to do is elaborate on the reasons why he pursued his investigations .... and maybe give some extra details. But in the end .... with all the big expectations that have been building since his firing .... I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed.

"President Obama invoked executive privilege on the Fast and Furious case (a case that involved the U.S. supplying weapons to Mexican "

So Bambam, the little cave boy, invoked executive privilege to hide his efforts to repeal the 2nd Amendment by engaging in crime.

BamBam the boy wonder could have been open about all his efforts to repeal the 2nd Amendment. Instead he engaged in gun running to cause deaths to cause a public outcry.

The boy belongs in jail.

For the 1st black president we could have Colin Powell. Instead we got a boy, who had everything handed to him and thus never grew into manhood.

You are as a big low life with your golden shower bullshit that you have referred to many times even the slightest evidence. But as all democrats you think bullshit is ok as long as you say it.

Comey's already met with Meuller, as a result, he won't be dropping any bombshells, as any bombshells in his posession, are now part of evidence and testimony in the FBI's investigation.

Much like Brennan's testimony yesterday, most of Comey's testimony will consist of confirming that there is a serious FBI investigation into Trump/Russia supported by hard evidence.

What will be interesting to see, is if he pulls a Brennan, who responded to a verbal trap attempt by Coverup Gowdy, to politely tell him to shove it up his own ass, in the form of pointing out that the classified evidence Gowdy was asking about was classified, that the Senate Commitee had recieved copies of that evidence, and maybe, Gowdy should just read the damn files.

For now, and the months to come, it's gonna be the little things we get to enjoy, the big blockbuster's won't come out until the FBI Investigations complete, charges are laid and impeachment proceedings have started.

Fred,

The president was very petulant throughout his presidency.

He also took every opportunity to denigrate everyone that was not onboard with him.
