Reuters: Russia says tells U.S. not to strike Syrian pro-government forces again

Russia said on Saturday it had told the United States it was unacceptable for Washington to strike pro-government forces in Syria after the U.S. military carried out an air strike on pro-Assad militia last month.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov relayed the message to U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a phone call on Saturday initiated by the U.S. side, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

U.S. officials told Reuters last month that the U.S. military carried out the air strike against militia supported by the government of President Bashar al-Assad which it said posed a threat to U.S. forces and U.S.-backed Syrian fighters in the country's south.

Lol, the US has been supporting Terrorists for decades. Everyone in the Syria game right now is bad. There's no good guys.

Aizino Smith is spouting ignorant fiction. Shame that low information dolts can post here as easily as informed observers.

Aonon,

The U.S supported Tibetans in the 1950s against the Communists in China.

The U.S. supported Ukrainians in the 1950s in the Soviet Union.

Apparently, Anon did not get the message that supporting Tibet was cool.

I'll stack the U.S. record against the USSR record any day.

Maybe Anon can tour Katyn, Poland on vacay for all the good it would do. Because he would read the HuffPo or the WaPo, go to sleep and wake up rebooted.

Whichever Anon this may be should get over himself, 'cuz' he's stupid.

"Syrian regime sponsored al Qaeda network run by Abu Ghadiyah"

Slain Syrian official supported al Qaeda in Iraq

Yes we owe Assad. Prove otherwise!

"Or What"

I do not know what you mean.

Having a Russian naval base in Syria does not change the strategic equation much. It does not get me worked up much. It is a 2-edged sword. The Russian can sortie much faster, but it also makes them more vulnerable. If we never go to war with Russia, it does not matter a hill of bean perhaps.

Assad did support jihadis. We owe him.

The Free Syrian Army is very much about branding to a Western audience. Would they come up with that name? They do not fight well. Their Leadership was out of country (seems cowardly. It is smart pre civil war, but once the bullets start flying they should have had some skin in the game). They did not win much.

Surveys of the non Islamist fighters showed they did not differ much from AL Qaeda, ISIS, Al Nushrah or whatever moniker they had this month to confuse and befuddle the mavens of smart on the Left. You know the process monkeys. One year in I was through supporting the opposition the Assad. He is the lesser of 2 evils.

The only ones I support are the Kurds.

IMO we're well into the clouds ahead of the stormfront and should see the squall line soon.

We could be eliminating poverty and building space stations. Instead we are fighting mean, sucky allies of Russia.
