President Trump: 'North Korea Made A Very Wise And Well Reasoned Decision To Not Launch Missiles At Guam'

Reuters: Trump praises N.Korean leader's decision not to fire missiles towards Guam

BEIJING/TOKYO (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday praised North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for a "wise" decision not to fire missiles towards the U.S. territory of Guam, which has eased escalating tension between the two countries.

Reclusive North Korea has made no secret of its plan to develop a missile capable of firing a nuclear warhead at the United States to counter what it perceives as constant U.S. threats of invasion.

Trump warned North Korea last week it would face "fire and fury" if it threatened the United States, prompting North Korea to say it was considering plans to fire missiles towards the Pacific island of Guam.

But North Korean media reported on Tuesday Kim had delayed the decision while he awaited to see what the United States did next.

"Kim Jong Un of North Korea made a very wise and well reasoned decision," Trump wrote on Twitter.

Well i commend Trump for Praising Kim for cancelling the exercise, a deescalating move from first Kim and then Trump. Which I actually consider in line with Trump politics - however I expect this to be spun very negatively from the press with Trump backing down from previous hard stance etc.

But while I think convincing DPRK to back down from developing nuclear ICBM, I think their aggressive stance can be modulated to merely dismissive of the US

I'm a little bit cautious because Kim make a "if" and a big one. He is just expecting that SK and US cancel their annual war game which will begin this month.
I'm not putting my money on this deal because that's blackmail from NK.

As I said before, this is a North Korean victory regardless of its outcome. And I did say they would try to use this to influence the Trump administration.

Perception is everything in politics, and the one that Trump is giving right now is American appeasement.
