Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Investigation Is Now Focused On The Role Of Social Media In Last Year's Election

Bloomberg: Mueller Probe Has ‘Red-Hot’ Focus on Social Media, Officials Say

* Facebook officials likely to face Congress, key lawmaker says
* Russia still ramping up cyber espionage: intelligence chief

Russia’s effort to influence U.S. voters through Facebook and other social media is a “red-hot” focus of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the 2016 election and possible links to President Donald Trump’s associates, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

Mueller’s team of prosecutors and FBI agents is zeroing in on how Russia spread fake and damaging information through social media and is seeking additional evidence from companies like Facebook and Twitter about what happened on their networks, said one of the officials, who asked not to be identified discussing the ongoing investigation.

The ability of foreign nations to use social media to manipulate and influence elections and policy is increasingly seen as the soft underbelly of international espionage, another official said, because it doesn’t involve the theft of state secrets and the U.S. doesn’t have a ready defense to prevent such attacks.

WNU Editor: Where was the focus last year when many conservative groups were accusing Facebook of being politically biased in their news feeds for liberal causes .... Facebook's Zuckerberg meets U.S. conservatives over bias controversy (Reuters). And now we are being lead to believe that a $100,000 ad buy on Facebook influenced a $2,000,000,000.00 election cycle to favor then candidate Donald Trump? .... When it comes to Facebook, Russia’s $100,000 is worth more than you think (Christine Emba, Washington Post).

Update: Here is an interesting post from the Guardian (before last years election) on how Facebook's ads were being used (and targeted) during the election .... 'The end of Trump': how Facebook deepens millennials' confirmation bias (Scott Bixby, The Guardian). If this report is true .... these ad buys did not influence last years election at all because these ads were only being targeted to those who were already supporting Trump.

Someone needs to investigate Robert Mueller:

Why Did Robert Mueller Obstruct Congress’s 9/11 Probe?
The 9/11 families’ lawsuit against the Saudis could prove revealing

Sir--
The first paragraph of the article you posted is inept, wrong, mistaken, lacking in awareness that the rest of the article is suspect. That said, why blame Mueller when in fact our govt has not fully released some 9/11 materials, and thus we still do not have all the facts and so to blame Mueller alone is simply wrong...and, that said, Mueller has the authority and approval of just about everyone elected official, and so to dismiss him on some charge as you imply here is of little help in the ongoing investigation

Comey and Mueller are buds.

Comey has been shown to be a snake. To wit his memo exonerating Hillary months before interviewing her.

So Mueller is a snake. That is not a proof by Boolean logic standards, but the correlation is just too strong for Mueller not to be a snake.

There is more to the field of logic, than just Boolean logic. Take the work of Dmitri Nikonov for instance.

Conservatives hate twitter and Facebook. Any possible Russian interference did not convince them.

- "Conservatives Accuse Facebook of Political Bias" - NYT

- "Facebook admits rogue employees may have shown bias against conservatives" - Washington Times

Arch-liberals & leftwingers are going to vote Left no matter what.

So who does that leave? Fence sitters and moderates.

"Study Reveals Moderates, Kerry Lemmings"

Mueller is going to be a joke in 2 years time.

Wait what?! They are shifting focus away from Trump to social media now? So one year has passed and -nothing- on Trump and Russia. Now focus seems to be social media and Russia.

This is pathetic.

I miss Jay's "it just takes time. .watergate took 2 years" parrot like lines.

Wtf.

They have nothing.

So if Mueller has nothing Trump, yet he collects a salary and has an expense account.

Is Mueller dining on caviar? I doubt it. What I do not doubt that is Mueller eats more seafood & has better cuts of beef as a special counsel than if he had a job on the outside as just another DC lawyer.

So why wrap up a 6 month to 1 year job? Keep it going to 4 or 5 years, because people have never ever curried his favor more than now. His power, fame, & money has never been greater.

He does not want this gig to end.

Like people & companies never bill the government for unnecessary services.

Watch the documentary "A good American" . A company billed the NSA for unnecessary services (Analog? Really?).

Take divorce lawyers. Often the process ends when the parties are broke. That was also a documentary "Divorce Corp"

"Divorce Corp is a new documentary that exposes the practices within the U.S. family law industry. More money and people flow through the family courts than any other court system in America. But because of good intentions run amok, misplaced finances, cronyism, and lacking checks and balances, family courts are corrupted, serving the local legal community instead of the people"

An example of many, many lawyers bilking people.

Is it beyond the pale to think that Mueller is partisan or beyond milking the system?
