BBC: Taliban hostage family freed by Pakistani troops
Pakistani soldiers have freed a North American family of five who were being held hostage by the Afghan Taliban.
Canadian Joshua Boyle and his US wife Caitlan Coleman were kidnapped while backpacking in Afghanistan in 2012. They had three children while in captivity.
They were rescued after a US tip-off during an operation near the Afghan border, the Pakistani army said.
US President Donald Trump said it was a "positive moment" for US-Pakistan ties.

This is an interesting albeit very slow counter terrorism tactic to become an expensive burden to your captors. It's not for everyone.
Seems like this was the ransom of red chief in reverse.
And kids are darned cute.
Rescuing citizens left, right, or nutty, makes others think before they take other Americans hostage.
I do not agree with the woman's politics in all likelihood. The guy should probably be shot.
But even if these two loons are ingrates, there are positive aspects or could be to rescuing them.
If it were just the jihad loving male, I would say leave him.
