Daily Mail: Kim Jong-un says U.S. and North Korea must cease 'irritating and hostile military actions' – and according to state-run media Trump offered to provide security guarantee and lift sanctions during 'good-will dialogue'

* Kim made the statement following his historic summit with President Trump
* His comment was reported by the Korean State News Agency
* Kim has invited Trump to visit Pyongyang, according to state media report
* North Korea reaffirmed its commitment 'to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula'
* Report also says Trump offered 'security guarantees to the DPRK and lift sanctions against it'

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un said it was 'urgent' for the U.S. and North Korea to cease'irritating and hostile military actions against each other' during talks on Tuesday with U.S. President Donald Trump, according North Korea's state media.

The statement, reported by North Korean state media and picked up by wire services, comes after Trump and Kim signed a joint statement where North Korea reaffirmed its commitment 'to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.'

The North Korean report gives Kim credit for raising the issue of U.S.-South Korean exercises, which Trump spoke about following his summit meeting with Kim.

Update: World to see major change after North Korea-US summit, says Kim Jong-un (TASS)

WNU Editor: The above Daily Mail post on Kim Jong-uns remarks/comments on the Somgapore Summit is exactly what I expected Kim Jong-un would say. He knows that this is a long process that will take time and where patience will be needed. I also sense that President Trump's promise that the U.S. would halt military exercises was something that Kim needed to have in order to show to his people back home that he did get something substantial from the Summit. To me .... a suspension of military exercises is no big deal .... they could resume at anytime. But Kim Jung-un needed the optics that he got something, and that this is in the long term interests of North Korea. I do not have any proof .... just a gut instinct .... but I sense that the hard-liners and the "Old Guard" in North Korea are not convinced that this process of reconciliation is in their interests or North Korea's. This could be a problem.

There better be some spectacular concessions before we lift sanctions on this guy.

Anon,

The sanctions can only be effective as long as Russia say they can be.

I meant to add China to this. Essentially sanctions can only be effective as long as China and Russia say they can be.
