Merkel has aligned German policy on energy tightly with Russia against fellow NATO interests knowing full well Putin has withheld those supplies from NATO members many times in the recent past. Now this China gambit to break the will of its main patron, the USA.

Any doubt why Trump is coming after Merkel in public? He wants the American public to know what dirt bags Germany has become. Germany’s conduct is fracturing NATO, not Trumps criticisms.
