Washington Post: North Korean officials no-show for meeting about U.S. troop remains

SEOUL — North Korean officials did not turn up to a Thursday meeting with the U.S. military about repatriating the remains of the war dead, according to a U.S. official with knowledge of the situation.

The two sides had been expected to meet at the Korean Peninsula’s demilitarized zone and discuss the return of U.S. troop remains from the 1950-1953 war — an arrangement that the State Department had announced after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to Pyongyang last Friday and Saturday.

State Department officials had said that the meeting would likely take place on July 12, though they added that the date could shift.

On Thursday, however, Department of Defense and United Nations Command officials were left waiting in the DMZ’s Joint Security Area. The expected North Korean officials never arrived, according to the official who requested anonymity as he was not permitted to talk publicly about the event.

Update #2: Excavations for Remains of U.S. Service Members in North Korea May Resume (OAN)

WNU Editor: From what I am reading, the North Koreans want money in exchange for these remains, and this is their way of showing their displeasure when the Americans offered nothing during Pompeo's visit last week.

Trump will not be bossed around like this. Something will happen if they don't get it.. if China is behind it (and Trump believes so), he will make them suffer.. this could mean an attack on Iran (to raise Oil Prices, which benefits the US by them being now the biggest oil supplier soon, AND it helps the US because of China's energy dependency.. all of their products would become more expensive in turn, and could slow down world economy quite a bit).. we shall see.. if Trump manages to get Saudi Arabia on his side (and it does look like it) he could win it all. On top, if there is a chance for Germany to drop the Russia Oil pipeline deal (e.g. if oil prices world wide rise, but the US supplies it much cheaper, i.e. weaponizes oil).. now that Trump finds himself more and more comfortable in the presidency role, it shall be an interesting time, so much is sure.. if I was in China and was running the show over there, I'd strike a deal, and fast.. because China has quite a bit more to loose, with the tarrifs AND the oil price issue (and not being a oil supplier and trade buyer and debt seller like the US)... looks very very bad for China now, and quite bad for Iran too.
