Defense News: Japan launches first ship of new destroyer class

MELBOURNE, Australia — Japan has launched the first of a new class of guided-missile destroyers with ballistic missile defense capabilities, as the U.S. ally continues to bolster its defenses against the missile threat from North Korea.

Named the Maya, the first of two 27DDG-class destroyers ordered by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force was launched in a ceremony attended by Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera at Japan Marine United’s shipyard at Isogo Ward in Yokohama, south of Japan’s capital Tokyo, according to Japan’s Defense Ministry.

"China is expressing its concerns..." Actually it is in response to China on why this is happening. If they are concerned, perhaps their best bet might be not to make provocative moves forcing others to respond in kind.

As an aside, I like reading about things like this. As Japan builds up its military, this means we are that much closer to our forces finally being able to leave. This would be a win/win all the way around for the alliance between America and Japan.

Poster, don't you love the hypocrisy? Shameless hussies, these Chinese. Do as I say, not as I do.

I do. Were it not so serious I would actually find it humorous. Actually I am trying to develop a sense of humor. With that in mind it actually is kind of funny.

Let's see, 1.) China goes around making bellicose threats at pretty much everyone in the region essentially claiming the entire South China Sea as its own. 2.)China then builds artificial islands to bolster this claim along with developing substantial increases in its military capabilities. 3.)These moves demonstrate both an intent and an ability to carry out hostile acts. 4.)Japan then does what any sane neighboring country would do in such an even. They counter with increases in their own military capabilities. 5.) Then China cries at the launch of a new Japanese weapon that was launched as a direct result of their bellicose threats and bellicose actions!!

Hello stupid!! You don't like this, don't engage in hostile acts!! It's not hard. So much for the idea of the Chinese being brilliant long range strategists. Also, a stronger Japan = equals a stronger and better ally for America. I'm sure Trump diplomacy had a role in this. After all, as I recall, Japan along with South Korea were called as needing to invest more in their military capabilities. O this candidate Trump was/is correct. Progress is being made.

The hypocrisy of the Chinese is rather hilarious though. Lol!!
