Asia Times: Beijing says US warship cannot dock in Hong Kong
Move comes amid rising trade and military tension between the superpowers.
China has turned down a request for a US warship to visit Hong Kong amid rising tension between the two superpowers over trade and military moves.
The USS Wasp was due to make a port call in the former British colony next month, but diplomats have said Beijing had blocked amphibious assault ship from visiting.
The decision is the second in two years by China despite many years of “successful” port visits by US ships in Hong Kong, US diplomats said.
In 2016, Beijing denied a request for a USS John C Stennis carrier strike group to visit Hong Kong during a time of tension over its territorial claims in the South China Sea.

At least the retaliations are still on the petty level. Hong Kong is a real prize in US-China relations as it has unique benefits in trade with the US because after China took possession there was the desire to preserve democracy in HK. Well that is all a fiction now as China's communists have iron grip on HK. Will Trump end their special trade exemptions?

If you think Russia is bad, look at the human track record and mass killings and social engineering of China. Entire generations of women killed (unwanted babies). But oh no, the left goes Russia Russia while China stole their wealth and much of their military tech and land grabbed an area much much larger than the east Ukraine (which I'm also against but just saying). And through that "land" (OK technically a body of water but they also claim the land and resources - gas worth trillions- underneath it ) and its an are where a big part of world trade has to go through (more trillions). Meanwhile Russia Russia
So dumb.
Not saying we should treat Russia with gloves when it comes to ask the stuff they do. ..but they're honestly the dumb ones because they get caught all the time and severely burned. China has stolen trillions in intellectual property, has further unfairly obtained trillions through unfair trade practices and ffs did you know they eat dogs over there? ;) OK last bit just for fun. But they do. Seriously. Well..I know places in Shanghai where they do. But back to topic. .please lefties, wake up to the China threat and don't be blind sided by the Russia narrative you've been hearing all day long while China is just a footnote but a much graver threat.
Your spot on...yes they are dumb and it's hard explaining why they do what they do. Having said that, they use the left side of their brains; not the right nor have any balance. It's just emotions emotions emotions.
