Laws revised in Xinjiang region to permit ‘education centres’ for ‘people influenced by extremism’

China’s far north-western region of Xinjiang has retroactively legitimised the use of internment camps where up to one million Muslims are being held.

Amid sustained international criticism, Chinese authorities have revised legislation to allow the regional government to officially permit the use of “education and training centres” to incarcerate “people influenced by extremism”.

The Chinese are behaving very similar to the Nazis of exactly 80 years ago.

Just imagine if this happened in France, Australia or the UK; there’s be boycotts, trade restrictions and mass outrage.
But, since this is China we all look the other way.
This simply exposes the regime for what it is.
And yes, there’ll be blowback.
So, I wonder what the point of view of ISIS or the Taliban is?

This can’t last...

I can tell you the Taliban don't like it, but they will still take weapons from China.

The internment of Japanese Americans in the United States of America during World War II was the forced relocation and incarceration in concentration camps in the western interior of the country of between 110,000 and 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, most of whom lived on the Pacific coast.
I would note that Muslims elsewhere seem not overly concerned, or at least not making a big outcry...and Christians also being mistreated though not yet interned

Is this a concern to the US, or merely an aside in the current trade war, the issue that we seem to care more about. My MAGA red cap comes from...yes...China

The citizens and immigrant of Japanese descent in Hawaii were not interned.

The U.S. military was against it.

Also some Japanese kids, who were interned had freedom to go to college out east.

So Anon 1043 it is more complicated than you let on

Nice trolling BTW. How much are you paid.

I am surprised the Dar alHarb foreign policy for Islam hasn't taken hold in China yet. This is a universal Lesser Jihad in a case where Muslims on foreign lands are under attack but non Muslims, creating a situation where all Muslims worldwide must come to their aid.

@Mathew Putnam

That would be a very interesting situation.
