Turkey said an operation east of the Euphrates river in northern Syria will commence in the coming days.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he will start a military operation east of the Euphrates river in northern Syria in a "few days".

The operation, announced on Wednesday, could further complicate already strained relations with the United States, which has troops stationed in the area currently controlled by Kurdish forces.

"We will start the operation to clear the east of the Euphrates from separatist terrorists in a few days. Our target is never US soldiers," Erdogan said in a speech televised live.

Does Turkey plan on occupying parts of Syria currently controlled by the US and Kurds? To do so requires the US to be forced out and I don't see the US getting kicked out.

Could this be a repeat, almost 1 year later, of the Russian debacle with their paramilitary forces losing badly to US-Kurdish forces?

Let's see if this actually happens. Last few times they threatened they did not execute.

I am more worried about the imminent attack from Russia against Ukraine. This was detailed here;
