U.S. Navy Makes Preparations To Sail Warship Into Black Sea

CNN: US makes preparations to sail warship into Black Sea amid Russia-Ukraine tensions

Washington (CNN)The US has begun making the necessary preparations to sail a warship into the Black Sea, a move that comes amid heightened tensions in the region following Russia's seizure of Ukrainian ships and detention of Ukrainian sailors.

The US military has requested that the State Department notify Turkey of its possible plans to sail a warship into the Black Sea, three US officials tell CNN, a move they said is a response to Russia's actions against Ukraine in the Kerch Strait, which connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The officers and crew should be prepared for low level fighter jet and laser harassment.

The lasers concern me.

I agree except I would probably expect mid level or high level fighter jet harassment. The Russians have used this type of harassment before. As such, I would expect them to up the intensity of this over the previous times. This is why I say mid to high level harassment should be what the crews should expect. Since our government has decided that we MUST do this, the crew will need to be prepared. Keeping them safe is of paramount importance.

The lasers are definitely a concern as well. These can cause significant damage to equipment and they can be extremely harmful to humans. Essentially whatever actions the Russians have taken in the past, at a minimum, I would expect those actions to be intensified this time around. This is what the leadership should expect and this is what the crew needs to prepare for.
