The world is going to end in 12 years unless the government takes action, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Monday at a Martin Luther King forum in New York City.
Here’s an excerpt from her interview with Ta-Nehisi Coates:
“And I think the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we’re like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change. You’re biggest issue, your biggest issue is how are going to pay for it? — and like this is the war, this is our World War II. And I think for younger people looking at this are more like, how are we saying let’s take it easy when 3,000 Americans died last year, how are we saying let’s take it easy when the end person died from our cruel and unjust criminal justice system?

From what I have read, the point is NOT that the world will end in 15 years but rather that we have but that many years left in order to prevent major damage that can not be repaired or prevented.

the war was initiated by Pres. Bush (GOP) and was based it seems on questionable itel, possibly distorted to be used politically by Bush (gop).
How Iraq and Iran were or had been at war for a number of years and thus each kept the other at bay. With the entry of US, as a good friend of mine who knows these things said the day we invaded: now Iran will rule the Middle East as Iraq becomes a mess.

They also didn't see quite a few other things coming. 9/11 comes to mind. Intelligence failed left and right. Today and decades ago as well. The Cuba Crisis for example. The intelligence failed in stopping them before they arrived in Cuba and were spotted almost launch ready with as little as 30min warning time before the nukes land. Intelligence failed during the founding of the FBI - just look at the many, many scandals of the early times of the FBI where political and ideological enemies and unwanted people were followed and imprisoned many times against the law. All documented. Failings after failings. The rise of China. The false report on Saddam's chemical weapons that led to the Iraq war. Massive failures. You can find them in any history book. .not as small footprints. They are huge chapters.
So no one sees the similarities to today? Really?
I find it amusing that our elder, Fred - with 90 years clearly outranking us all - is the one who seems to ignore history. All these intelligence failures and scandals documented in history books even and we know about FBI bias of Comey his entire family, McCabe "backup option" to get rid of the president, his lover also at the fbo who he cheated with on top of it all.
