China's Navy Now Has More Warships The The U.S. Navy

Popular Mechanics: China Now Has More Warships Than the U.S.

But sometimes quantity doesn't trump quality.

China now has more warships than the United States Navy. The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), informally known as the Chinese Navy, recently hit a landmark number of 300 ships—thirteen more than the U.S. Navy.

Although admittedly imposing, the number doesn’t tell the whole story. America’s fleet is much larger on a ship-by-ship basis, including eleven nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and an almost equal number of amphibious assault ships.

Huh why?

Look this is a clash of culture.

They're not bad people. They just want different things; just like we want different things.

Chinese Navy is cute and all but realistically the US never needed a navy bigger than China. For the United States has many allies, China has none. No one but the insane will follow the Chinese model of an Emperor ruling over a corrupt ethno state, arguably racist at its very core. The US - for all its admitted failures and shortcomings is trying to walk a different way.

People - if you let them choose - will join a united states and its allies of nations. And so will the Chinese people ultimately, until passports no longer divide us.

Will Donald Trump declare himself Emperor of the U.S?

Curiously there was a man in San Francisco called Joshua Abraham Norton who declared himself Emperor of the United States who in 1859 proclaimed himself "Norton I, Emperor of the United States" and added to his pretense by claiming to be "Protector of Mexico" as well.

October 1859
His Imperial Majesty, Norton-1, has issued the following edict, which he desires the Bulletin to spread before the world. Let her rip!

It is represented to us that the universal suffrage, as now existing through the Union, is abused; that fraud and corruption prevent a fair and proper expression of the public voice; that open violation of the laws are constantly occurring, caused by mobs, parties, factions and undue influence of political sects; that the citizen has not that protection of person and property which he is entitled to by paying his pro rata of the expense of Government--in consequence of which,
WE do hereby abolish Congress, and it is therefore abolished; and
WE order and desire the representatives of all parties interested to appear at the Musical Hall of this city on the first of February next, and then and there take the most effective steps to remedy the evil complained of.

He had no political power, and his influence extended only so far as he was humored by those around him; nevertheless, he was treated deferentially in San Francisco, and currency issued in his name was honored in the establishments he frequented.

Norton was loved and revered by the citizens of San Francisco. Although he was penniless, he regularly ate at the finest restaurants in San Francisco; restaurateurs took it upon themselves to add brass plaques in their entrances declaring "[by] Appointment to his Imperial Majesty, Emperor Norton I of the United States"

Norton's self-penned Imperial seals of approval were prized and boosted trade. No play or musical performance in San Francisco would dare to open without reserving balcony seats for Norton.

Oral history has it that on one occasion a mob set out to attack Chinese residents when Emperor Norton was nearby. On that day Emperor Norton proved not only to be Protector of Mexico, but Guardian of Chinaown. It is said he placed himself between the rabble and the ethnic community and stared the louts down. Some say He recited the Lord's Prayer to diffuse the riot. It was a heroic act however He did it.

In 1867, a policeman named Armand Barbier arrested Norton to commit him to involuntary treatment for a mental disorder. The arrest outraged the population of San Francisco and sparked scathing editorials in the newspapers. Police Chief Patrick Crowley ordered Norton released and issued a formal apology on behalf of the police force. Crowley wrote "that he had shed no blood; robbed no one; and despoiled no country; which is more than can be said of his fellows in that line.

Norton magnanimously granted an Imperial Pardon to the errant policeman. All police officers of San Francisco thereafter saluted Norton as he passed in the street.

Do you honestly think Donald Trump could match Emperor Norton? If Trump did declare himself Emperor he would be carted off in a straight jacket with is motely administration quicker than he could say antidisestablishmentarianism though knowing Trump it would take him several days to manage "Anti-distinctly-minty-monetarism".

Fazman,

Boats sank a destroyer

Eilat was sunk on 21 October 1967 in Mediterranean international waters off Port Said in the Sinai, hit by three Soviet-made Styx missiles launched by Egyptian missile boats. An Egyptian Komar-class missile boat positioned within the harbour at Port Said fired two missiles at the Israeli destroyer. Eilat's radar did not reveal any suspicious activity or movements because the Egyptians launched the missiles from within the port.

Everyone talks about ammo. People in the business also talk about platforms (weapon platforms). All a platform is is something to move munitions around and hit the other guys platforms or soldiers until he runs out of them or cries uncle.

You platform does not have to be tailor made or best in class. The Sherman was outclassed. We had more of them. The Sherman was maintainable and producible. It also had a high profile and was flammable. It had a gasoline engine. It was called a Ronson lighter because it lit up every time.

https://militaryhistorynow.com/2017/09/12/tank-busting-blowing-up-the-myth-of-the-mighty-m4-sherman/

After someone gets a kill shot it does not matter if the platform carrying the munition was a technical (Toyota pickup) or a humvee. It does not matter, if the pick-up is now trash, because its chassis and suspension is shot. If the side using them has won, they have the power and money to replace the Toyota with something.

Fighting seems to be a case of rock, paper, scissors. You rock can be bigger than their rock. You can have more of them. You never know until you mix it up.

If you are not stronger at the start of hostilities, you have needed to be strong enough to last long enough to ramp up production lines, train and equip more forces. Which is bloody obvious in the extreme, but seems to be a lesson not learned ever. Too many people want their iPhones, cheap labor, peace dividend, and cheap rhetoric.

We are assuming we have production lines. Much of the foundry work is in South Korea, China, India, Brasil, Turkey or south of the border. So I guess we are not going to build many platforms. Maybe we could set up a new Aouzou Strip for foundries not uranium ore?

We do not have electronics. Those come from China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. China will take Taiwan and what do you think their navy is for? We have a new electronic plant in Wisconsin called Foxconn, which is far, far away from the Chinese Navy.
But a year after groundbreaking the manufacturing plant is nowhere as of April 26,2019. All the opposition has done is to denigrate the idea and not help at all. I guess this is the great Democrat plan:

Along with the majority of the Colonial Fleet, this software allowed the Cylons to remotely disable the Vipers

I love Democrat policies. They get you killed. Can't build nothing in the US. No foundries No electronics.

How Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica Can Teach the U.S. Navy to Defeat China

"Such tactics are an otherworldly counterpart to saturation missile barrages meant to overwhelm U.S. surface combatants’ Aegis combat systems. Rather than try to evade Aegis defenses, attackers simply aim more rounds at this combination radar, fire-control and surface-to-air missile system than it can handle. Some get through"

Swarming defenses has been the answer to Russian ICBM defenses. That and a lot of Em interference making it useless. Start at the edge of the envelope and keep walking nukes in.

Tonnage makes since when you go toe to toe and punch at each other with guns.

With missiles?
