* The New York Times reported Thursday, citing people briefed on the plans, that Bloomberg was working on entering at least one Democratic presidential primary and potentially the overall race for the chance to take on Trump.

Mike Bloomberg, the billionaire former mayor of New York, is preparing to enter the Democratic presidential primary, according to NBC News, which cited a Bloomberg advisor.

The move didn’t necessarily mean Bloomberg, 77, was announcing a campaign, a source close to Bloomberg told NBC News. Rather, this source said, he’s doing this to keep his options open. Bloomberg is “troubled” by what he has seen in the Democratic field, the source added.

"Seattle’s Socialist City Councilwoman Loses After Amazon Dumps Money Into Race
Kshama Sawant, a self-proclaimed socialist incumbent running for Seattle city council, lost her seat after Amazon poured approximately $1.5 million behind her more moderate Democratic challenger, Egan Orion.

“We are engaging in this election because we want Seattle to have a city government that works. Seattle deserves a council that delivers results for all of its residents on issues that matter, like homelessness, transportation, climate change, and public safety,” said Amazon spokesman Aaron Toso.

To no surprise, Sawant was angered by Amazon’s involvement in the local election. Amazon, whose headquarters are in Seattle, would not stand to benefit from her socialist agenda. However, Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, is a lifelong Democrat and has long poured money into left-leaning politics.

“Jeff Bezos and his fellow billionaires have gone to war with this city, and in this year’s city council elections, they are attempting to straight up buy their candidates, and do a hostile corporate takeover of City Hall,” Sawant said in a NowThis video."

What the Trump defenders refuse to understand is that career civil servants work for presidents of both parties. CIA officers, just like Foreign Service officers and military officers, pride themselves on being apolitical.

But the pro-Trump fanatics imagine that any civil servant who has come forward with incriminating information about the president, no matter how accurate, must be acting out of partisan motives. So now the goon squad is attempting to defame and intimidate a CIA officer, who may or may not be the whistleblower, along with all of Trump’s public accusers. This is modern-day McCarthyism in action.

Actually, it may be even worse, because at least there really was a Soviet intelligence apparatus in America, even if McCarthy didn’t uncover its operations. The deep state, by contrast, is entirely a figment of Trump’s twisted imagination

The median age for presidents at the time of their inauguration is 55; Trump was the oldest when sworn in at age 70; Reagan was 69 and George Washington just 57.

That makes the advanced age of the top 2020 presidential candidates historic: If elected, Warren would be 71 at her inauguration. Biden would be 78, Sanders 79, and Trump would begin a second term at age 74.

How much of this is about chronological age and how much is the perception of age?

Yes Anon. There is a huge amount of damage being done to the stability of organizations on which the country's safety is dependent. I read something recently about Russian manipulation and hacking designed to promote such degredation for the purposes of subverting quality management down the road.

Are the democrats certain they want to run a candidate that isn't mired in scandal or sexual harassment controversy? This is a big shift in strategy, let's see if it works out.

Kshama Sawant sound like an Indian name. Is she 1st or 2nd generation?

It doesn't really matter. One might think as an Indian =-American she might know a little something about Indian HISTORY. Like the fact that socialism in India failed.

But she is a good liberal. She does not know history and would not benefit from a reading of history at any rate.
